North Community Bank ATM Fee Class Action Settlement
By Mike Holter
Chicago-area bank North Community Bank has reached a class action lawsuit settlement over allegations it did not post adequate notice of the ATM fees it would charge to use its ATMs in various locations throughout Chicago. As a result, anyone who was charged a transaction fee at certain North Community Bank ATMs between 2008 and 2009 may be able to receive up to $1,000 from the North Community Bank class action settlement.
The North Community Bank ATM fee settlement will resolve a class action lawsuit, entitled Siragusa v. North Community Bank, that alleges the bank violated the Electronic Funds Transfer Act (EFTA) by failing to have appropriate surcharge fee notices posted on its ATMs. North Community Bank denies any wrongdoing, but has agreed to settle the class action lawsuit for $120,000 to avoid ongoing litigation.
Class Members of the North Community Bank ATM fee class action settlement include anyone who, from May 1, 2008 through April 30, 2009, was charged a transaction fee for using an ATM operated by North Community Bank at any of the following locations:
