Multiple plaintiffs have filed a Zostavax lawsuit, alleging the vaccine that is designed to prevent shingles actually puts patients at risk for significant side effects including the development of shingles itself.
Plaintiffs allege that after being inoculated with the Zostavax vaccine, they had every reason to believe that they were protected against the development of shingles. However, many allege they discovered shingles caused by vaccine after the fact.
Those patients who were diagnosed with the medical condition believe that they ultimately discovered shingles caused by vaccine as the primary problem that put them in the position of suffering harm.
The Zostavax lawsuit says that these plaintiffs have suffered emotional, economic and physical damages because of the shingles and associated injuries. Multiple plaintiffs came together to file the Zostavax lawsuit in Florida, claiming pain, damages and the development of shingles.
The Zostavax lawsuit says that the patients were never told that the vaccine did not prevent shingles as intended, or that they were being put at risk for developing shingles caused by vaccine. The patients actually developed the exact condition that the drug was designed to prevent, they claim.
The complaint says that the plaintiffs have suffered in many ways, including pain and suffering, medical expenses and other damages. Extensive medical care and treatment might be required for someone who develops shingles caused by a vaccine.
The Zostavax inoculation is designed to serve as a long-term prevention against the development of shingles. However, numerous patients have come forward to report serious and lasting side effects.
If a patient begins to experience unexplained side effects, these concerns should be reported directly to a physician. Although many claims of issues with Zostavax have been publicized in recent months, some patients might not know that these symptoms are caused by the shingles vaccine.
Those who have chosen to file lawsuits related to the shingles vaccine claim that the makers of the drug should have completed more testing and warned recipients of the vaccine about the risks. Many people who get the shingles vaccine chose to do so because they felt they were vulnerable in terms of possibly getting shingles.
Some of these side effects have been short term in nature, but the development of shingles was an unwelcome and unpleasant surprise for those patients who got the vaccine in order to prevent it altogether.
Shingles can be a very painful and problematic medical condition to treat. It might also cause people to stay home from work and lose out on wages as a result of treating the condition or the pain directly associated with it.
If you or someone you know has shingles caused by vaccine, you need to share these concerns immediately with a medical professional in order to chart a treatment plan and to figure out how to proceed next
The Zostavax Lawsuit is Case No. 8:18-CV-01788, filed in the Circuit Court of the 13th Judicial Court for Hillsborough County, Florida.
