Melting and Possible Fire Hazard Associated with All-Pro Outdoor Solar LightsSome consumers who purchased All-Pro outdoor solar lights, marketed by the Eaton Company, report that the lights’ batteries have been overheating. The overheating batteries in these All-Pro outdoor solar lights can melt the lights’ housing and create a possible fire hazard.

These solar powered outdoor LED lights were marketed under various names including Defiant and All-Pro. A number of consumers have begun to file complaints and express concerns about these batteries overheating and the possible fire risk that could emerge as a result of regular usage.

Using these lights outside of the home might not seem dangerous with regard to the melting and fire risk, but this all depends on the placement of the lights near your home and other important fixtures.

Any consumer product that carries some level of risk should have that risk detailed on the product, if not mitigated entirely by the company prior to marketing and distribution. Unfortunately, far too many people learn too late about the risks of a product when it malfunctions during regular usage.

The All-Pro outdoor solar lights are the kind of fixture that can be attached to the exterior of a home and are easily forgotten, as long as they work the way they’re supposed to. But if the owner doesn’t check on these often or leaves for a vacation, melting and a resulting fire could occur that could severely damage the whole property.

Many different models of the All-Pro outdoor solar lights have been associated with this fire risk, and some consumers who purchased the product might not be aware of the dangers presented.

Major retailers including Home Depot and Lowe’s sell these All-Pro outdoor solar lights, and most consumers would not assume that there is any fire risk due to the fact that these lights are not plugged in and instead rely on natural energy.

However, the batteries inside the All-Pro outdoor solar lights could overheat unexpectedly and could cause property damage or injuries. The batteries inside these motion activated outdoor solar powered LED lights could cause a fire if the main housing of those fixtures melts. The problem is not unique to these products–other products like smartphones have made news with reports of overheating and exploding batteries.

The All-Pro outdoor solar lights marketed by the Eaton Company are typically sold for prices between $70 and $100. The All-Pro outdoor solar lights at issue were marketed by the Eaton Company and sold between September 2015 through July 2018. The outdoor solar lights are connected to the solar panel that gathers energy via a wire. The batteries, however, are the possible source of melting and the fire risk.

These kinds of All-Pro outdoor solar lights are usually affixed to a fence or the exterior of a home, which could be particularly dangerous if these are near materials that can melt or catch fire quickly. Consumers who purchased these lights might not be aware of the significant risk of using these lights and might only discover the dangers after it is too late.

Can you tell me who made the batteries for the All-Pro and Defiant Solar lights and where? I have a similar situation, but the Mfg is different. I cannot discuss it at this time. Was just curious of the MFG of the batteries only.

    Kind Regards,
    Cindy
