A Missouri man recently filed a Xarelto internal bleeding lawsuit against Janssen Pharmaceuticals alleging the blood thinner caused his late wife’s serious bleeding complications.
The plaintiff, Monty D., claims in the Xarelto internal bleeding lawsuit that his late wife, Elizabeth, used Xarelto from September 2013 through August 2015 at the direction of her doctor.
However, he says the use of Xarelto led directly to serious complications, including major internal bleeding and anemia in August 2015. She was hospitalized and required medical treatment.
After his wife’s death, Monty filed the Xarelto internal bleeding lawsuit on Aug. 23, 2018, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.
The lawsuit was filed on multiple counts, including manufacturing defect, design defect, failure to warn, negligence, breach of express and implied warranties, and fraud. Monty also filed on one count of loss of consortium.
If you or someone you love has suffered from a major Xarelto side effect like internal bleeding, you may be able to pursue a Xarelto internal bleeding lawsuit.
Basics of Xarelto
Xarelto (also known by its generic name, rivaroxaban) is a relatively new blood thinning drug. Xarelto is manufactured and sold by Janssen Pharmaceuticals, a prominent subsidiary of pharmaceutical giant Johnson & Johnson. Since it was first introduced to the market, Xarelto has become increasingly popular.
Xarelto is prescribed to treat blood clots and conditions related to clotting. Blood clots can be very dangerous, and in some cases can be fatal, which makes the use of new blood thinner drugs like Xarelto so widespread.
Xarelto Internal Bleeding Complications
A growing number of lawsuits are being filed over complications allegedly stemming from the medication, including internal bleeding, intracranial hemorrhage, and more. Unfortunately, some have even had to file a Xarelto internal bleeding lawsuit after the death of a loved one.
According to these lawsuits, Janssen knew about the dangerous side effects linked to Xarelto, including internal bleeding and hemorrhaging, yet failed to adequately warn both consumers and the medical community, placing patients at serious risk.
Filing a Xarelto Internal Bleeding Lawsuit
Janssen is currently facing hundreds of Xarelto life-threatening bleeding lawsuits filed by and on behalf of patients who, after taking Xarelto, have suffered from internal bleeding, brain hemorrhaging, or other adverse events associated with the medication.
Filing a Xarelto internal bleeding lawsuit cannot take away the pain and suffering caused by these injuries, nor can it bring a loved one back to life. However, a Xarelto lawsuit can at least help to compensate for the financial expenses often incurred by medical bills and lost wages.
If you or someone you love has taken Xarelto and experienced severe side effects like internal bleeding, or even died from their usage of Xarelto, you may be able to file a Xarelto internal bleeding lawsuit.
The Xarelto Internal Bleeding Lawsuit is Case No. 2:18-cv-08060-EEF-MBN, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.
