Lyons Magnus recall overview: 

  • Who: Lyons Magnus is recalling certain ReadyCare and Imperial frozen supplemental shakes.
  • Why: The recall was initiated over concerns the frozen supplemental shakes may be contaminated with a strain of listeria monocytogenes currently linked to 38 illnesses and 11 deaths.
  • Where: The recalled frozen supplemental shakes were distributed throughout the U.S. — primarily to long-term care facilities. 

Lyons Magnus is recalling certain ReadyCare and Imperial frozen supplemental shakes over concerns they may be contaminated with a listeria monocytogenes strain currently linked to 38 illnesses and 11 deaths. 

The recall involves certain vanilla, chocolate, strawberry and strawberry banana flavored 4 oz. Lyons ReadyCare and Sysco Imperial Frozen Supplemental Shakes with best by dates between Feb. 21, 2025, and Feb. 21, 2026. 

The recalled frozen supplemental shakes were distributed throughout the U.S, according to the Lyons Magnus recall. Consumers who are in possession of the recalled products are advised to quarantine them. 

Recalled frozen supplemental shakes not available for retail sale

Lyons Magnus said it initiated the recall in the wake of a recall by the manufacturer of the frozen supplemental shakes, Prairie Farms Dairy Inc., which operates from the Prairie Farms facility in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

The recalled frozen supplemental shakes were primarily distributed to long-term care facilities and were not available for retail sale, according to the recall.

A consumer filed a class action lawsuit against Lyons Magnus and Tru Aseptics in November 2022 over claims the companies failed to ensure the quality of beverages they recalled due to bacteria contamination.
