If you filed a claim for the LexisNexis settlement, keep checking your mailbox because payouts are on their way!
The LexisNexis class action settlement resolves allegations that the company sold its “Accurint brand reports to debt collectors without treating the reports as ‘consumer reports’ within the meaning of the FCRA.”
LexisNexis claimed that its Accurint service provided to debt collectors did not fall under the scope of “consumer reports” and therefore didn’t need to comply with the FCRA. However, after extensive mediation with both parties, LexisNexis agreed to settle the dispute for $13.5 million.
Class Members included all individuals who “requested a copy of an Accurint® report about yourself and/or initiated or submitted a dispute or other inquiry about information in an Accurint® brand product about you at any time between October 1, 2006 to April 19, 2013.”
The deadline to object or ask to be excluded from the LexisNexis settlement passed on July 12, 2013.
