Keratin, which is supposed to be good for your hair, is at the center of allegations that the ingredient has caused injuries and hair loss to consumers who used Suave Professionals Keratin Infusion 30-Day Smoothing Kit.
Unilever, the parent company of Suave Professionals, has already agreed to a $10 million class action settlement for similar claims, but there are likely many more Suave victims out there who have yet to come forward or aren’t aware that a Suave class action lawsuit exists and they may qualify to join. You may be eligible for a one-time-only cash compensation, which includes $10 and/or total reimbursement for costs related to injury treatment. Additionally, you might also be eligible to join another growing Suave class action lawsuit to seek additional compensation.
Consumers’ alleged injuries range from mysterious hair loss when using the product to scalp burns. The class action lawsuit claims that Unilever used deceptive marketing practices regarding the safety of the kit, and didn’t disclose the risks of using the products. It’s estimated that up to 260,000 of these kits were sold.
CNN reported in October 2013 that “hundreds of women” across the country have already filed Suave Keratin lawsuits. According to their reports, “severe hair loss” was relatively common. Women were drawn in by the marketing promise of getting “smooth, shiny, manageable hair with no frizz.”
While keratin itself is seen as safe, based on the injuries and damage the product has allegedly caused, women claim that the addition of other chemicals – whether reacting with keratin or each other – resulted in something of a Nair effect for the head, burning off tresses and damaging the scalp. For some women, it’s too soon to tell if the damage is permanent. Scars resulting from chemical burns certainly may lead to baldness. Just like the hair on your arm or leg may not grow where there’s a scar, the same can be true of your head. For women especially, this can cause extensive emotional and mental trauma.
In late 2013, Unilever discontinued the product but it may still be sitting on some retail shelves. More than 380,000 kits were recalled by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). However, that doesn’t guarantee that all retailers pull every single kit from the shelves.

I received coupons years ago for the damage done to my hair. Well all these years later my hair is still a burnt product from this experiment. Coupons however will not get my hair back to normal. All these years have passed and still shows damage!
