LSI Inc. is recalling more than 2.2 million pounds of its Golden Island Korean barbecue pork jerky because of potential contamination with metal fragments.
The Golden Island pork jerky recall affects products distributed nationwide to Costco and Sam’s Club locations.
The jerkey recall was announced on Oct. 24 by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
It involves 14.5-oz. and 16-oz. plastic pouches of “GOLDEN ISLAND fire-grilled PORK JERKY Korean BARBECUE recipe,” marked with establishment number “M279A” and “best by” dates from October 23, 2025, to September 23, 2026.
Consumers urged to discard or return affected jerky
The Golden Island pork jerky recall notice says consumers should not eat the affected jerky and should either dispose of it or return it to the store where it was purchased.
The FSIS has expressed concern that some of the product may still be in consumers’ homes and is conducting recall effectiveness checks to ensure the product is removed from shelves.
“No injuries have been reported, but officials urged consumers not to eat the recalled jerky,” the recall notice says.
LSI, Inc. is actively addressing the issue by recalling the affected products and informing consumers about the potential risk.
For more information, consumers can contact LSI, Inc. at [email protected]. Additionally, the USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline is available for food safety inquiries at 888-MPHotline (888-674-6854), and further details can be found on the FSIS website.
LSI, Inc. says it has not received any reports of illness or injury related to the Costco recall so far. The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.
In other Costco news, a California federal judge denied Costco’s motion to dismiss a class action lawsuit alleging its Kirkland Signature Baby Wipes contain toxic per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) despite being marketed as “natural.”
