Update:

  • Igloo has expanded its recall of 90 Qt Rolling Coolers to nearly 1.2 million units.
  • The recall update was posted on the Consumer Product Safety Commission website on May 8, 2025.
  • More than 1 million coolers were recalled in February 2025, with the current expanded recall adding 130,000 coolers in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
  • Igloo is still facing class action lawsuit allegations that it failed to notify consumers of the coolerโ€™s risks in a timely manner.ย
  • According to the lawsuit and recall notice, the tow handle can pinch consumersโ€™ fingertips against the cooler, posing fingertip amputation and crushing hazards.

Igloo class action lawsuit overview:

  • Who: Kathryn Trainor filed a class action lawsuit against Igloo Products Corp.
  • Why: Trainor claims Igloo failed to inform customers about recalled coolers that can pinch consumersโ€™ fingertips against the cooler, posing fingertip amputation and crushing hazards.
  • Where: The nationwide class action lawsuit was filed in Pennsylvania federal court.

Igloo Products Corp. sold now-recalled coolers with a tow handle that can pinch consumersโ€™ fingertips against the cooler, posing fingertip amputation and crushing hazards, a new class action lawsuit alleges.

โ€œThe Product is not fit for its intended use by humans as they expose consumers to the fingertip amputation and crushing risk,โ€ the class action says.

Plaintiff Kathryn Trainorโ€™s class action lawsuit claims the recalled Igloo coolers had a defective design that was easy to avoid.

Trainor wants to represent a nationwide class and Pennsylvania subclass of consumers who purchased any of the recalled Igloo coolers manufactured before January 2024.

The recall involves the Igloo 90 Qt. Flip & Tow Rolling Coolers in Tactical Gray Body and Deep Slate Stone Lid, the word IGLOO printed on the side of the coolers.

Igloo recalled 1M coolers in February 2025 without proper consumer notification

Igloo recalled more than 1 million coolers in February 2025 due to the fingertip amputation and crushing hazards, as notified on the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website.

Trainor, meanwhile, argues Igloo failed to notify consumers of the fingertip amputation and crushing hazards posed by the recalled coolers through the product labels, instructions, other packaging, advertising, or in any other manner.

โ€œAs a result of Defendantโ€™s actions, Plaintiff has incurred damages,โ€ the class action says.

Trainor claims Igloo is guilty of breach of warranty, unjust enrichment, fraudulent concealment or fraud by omission, negligent design and formulation defect, among other things under the Pennsylvania Unfair Trade Practice and Consumer Protection Law.

A consumer filed a separate class action lawsuit against Igloo earlier this year over claims the company falsely marketed some of its coolers as biodegradable, made with recycled materials, or made in the United States.

The plaintiffs are represented by Stuart A. Carpey of Carpey Law, P.C.

The Igloo coolers class action lawsuit is Trainor, et al. v. Igloo Products Corp., Case No. 2:25-cv-00941, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
