UPDATE: On August 10, 2020, the Huggies class action lawsuit was dismissed.

A concerned mother has filed a class action lawsuit against the makers of Huggies alleging that their Snug & Dry Diapers can cause a rash which requires medical attention.

Plaintiff Heidy Morales filed the class action against Kimberly-Clark Corporation, the makers of Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers, alleging that the diapers can cause a painful, persistent rash in infants.

Morales says she purchased Huggies diapers online in December 2017. When she started to use the box of diapers in February, her child “J.F.” developed a painful, persistent rash that did not resolve on its own and required medical attention.

After using the Huggies diapers, Morales says she noticed blue crystals within the diapers that she had not initially noticed. Due to the rash and crystals, Morales ceased using Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers.

“The Product website states that the Product’s characteristics will ensure ‘more quality time with baby’ and ‘help keep baby dry so they can giggle a little longer,’” the Huggies class action states. “Yet J.F. was very far from giggling after Plaintiff Morales applied the Product to him, and Plaintiff Morales did not consider the ensuing doctor’s visit to be quality time.”

Morales claims that J.F.’s reaction to the diapers was not unique, and cites numerous other reviews by parents claiming that their children also developed severe rashes after using Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers. Reviews and complaints on CircleOfMoms.com, Community.BabyCenter.com, Amazon, and Huggies own website allegedly show that countless children are experiencing the same reaction that J.F. did.

“I don’t know what happened to Huggies Snug and Dry, but the new version is horrid,” one reviewer stated in an Amazon review. “My baby would wake up with tiny pieces of glue or whatever the material that they are using now on his skin, this is only after 6-7 [sic] hs of wear at night. The sticky substance that supposed to be inside the diaper somehow leaks and ends up on baby’s skin and eventually irritates and you have a diaper rash or worse.”

The Huggies class action claims that Kimberly-Clark knew about the problems associated with their diaper products but continued to sell them regardless of possible injuries to children. Kimberly-Clark allegedly acknowledged the complaints of parents on Facebook as early as 2013.

“We take any concerns about our diapers very seriously, and we are working directly with this mom to learn more about what happened and how we can help,” the company reportedly said on their Facebook page.

Despite this statement, the company has allegedly continued to sell defective products which injure children, the Huggies Snug & Dry class action states.

Morales seeks to represent a Class of consumers who purchased Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers within the applicable period. Alternatively, Morales proposed to represent a New York Class of the same consumers protected under New York consumer laws.

The Huggies class action seeks restitution, disgorgement, compensatory damages, statutory damages, court costs, and attorneys’ fees.

Plaintiffs are represented by C.K. Lee and Anne Seelig of Lee Litigation Group PLLC.

The Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers Class Action Lawsuit is Morales v. Kimberly-Clark Corporation, Case No. 7:18-cv-07401, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.

My baby has a horrible rash! I just realized it’s the diapers, I had no idea what was going on. Thank God I figured it out. I will never buy Higgins again how can they still sell?

  2. Jasmine says:

I usually buy target brand diapers. But I could not make it to the Walmart. So I decided to go to my local store and they had Huggies. Within two days my daughter developed a chemical burn. My daughter never had a diaper rash. And I do not leave her diapers on long. I immediately took the diaper off , treated her and got some target brand diapers. These are our precious babies that are being harmed by these diapers. We do not know if this will cause reproductive problems in the feature. Huggies should be penalized and out of business.

My Daughter is 18 months old and keeps getting this Extremely irritated rash that just makes even me as a Father cry trying to clean up her poops or pee’s. Terribly saddened every time me or my Fiancé changes her ever since we switched to Huggies Snug & Dry! We couldn’t think of the reasoning in these ridiculous rashes to keep showing up no matter the medications or coconut oils it wouldn’t go away! Then I saw a Facebook post about this lawsuit on the very Same diapers we switched to a few months prior! This is Something that no Parent nor child should have to go through all so a few people can make a few extra millions! Not only should these defective products be removed from every shelf but they should be shut down indefinitely for the Crimes they are still committing to this day! We are all Tax paying citizens of this country that payed good hard earned money for diapers that are supposed to keep our a children as COMFORTABLE as possible during these hectic infant and toddler stages! Add me to the list please! Curtis Allen Stevens III ! (Daughter) Naylani Taylor Stevens

  6. Susan Smith says:

Our daughter is 8 months old. We have used mostly luvs since she was born. We got a box of Huggies last week and immediately noticed diaper rash. At first I thought it was just normal diaper rash, as she doesn’t ever have it I didn’t realize the differences. Last night being day 3 our daughter has what looks more like a chemical burn in the shape of the diaper. She screamed to touch it and needless to say we rushed out to get our normal brand of luvs. Huggies seems to be more hurting babies, rather then helping them. We are horribly disappointed!

  7. Tessa Kasanowski says:

My son has experienced the same thing with huggies snug and dry. Boughtbthem in November 2019 in Calgary Alberta. Huge red burns all over his scrotum and bum. Little clear gel beads broke out of the diapers and it’s not from leaving him in a wet diaper. I change him very frequently! Super disappointed and upset. This needs to be stopped.

It’s ridiculous that these are on the shelves for people to buy. My mom bought the wrong diapers and I decided to use them anyway. Huge mistake! Our babies, a baby boy who’s 1 1/2 and a baby girl who was 7 months old at the time, couple of months ago both got what looked like burns after one diaper! The boy got a horrible burn/blister around the talebone area and the girl was her private area!! This is unreal
