UPDATE: On August 10, 2020, the Huggies class action lawsuit was dismissed.

A concerned mother has filed a class action lawsuit against the makers of Huggies alleging that their Snug & Dry Diapers can cause a rash which requires medical attention.

Plaintiff Heidy Morales filed the class action against Kimberly-Clark Corporation, the makers of Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers, alleging that the diapers can cause a painful, persistent rash in infants.

Morales says she purchased Huggies diapers online in December 2017. When she started to use the box of diapers in February, her child “J.F.” developed a painful, persistent rash that did not resolve on its own and required medical attention.

After using the Huggies diapers, Morales says she noticed blue crystals within the diapers that she had not initially noticed. Due to the rash and crystals, Morales ceased using Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers.

“The Product website states that the Product’s characteristics will ensure ‘more quality time with baby’ and ‘help keep baby dry so they can giggle a little longer,’” the Huggies class action states. “Yet J.F. was very far from giggling after Plaintiff Morales applied the Product to him, and Plaintiff Morales did not consider the ensuing doctor’s visit to be quality time.”

Morales claims that J.F.’s reaction to the diapers was not unique, and cites numerous other reviews by parents claiming that their children also developed severe rashes after using Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers. Reviews and complaints on CircleOfMoms.com, Community.BabyCenter.com, Amazon, and Huggies own website allegedly show that countless children are experiencing the same reaction that J.F. did.

“I don’t know what happened to Huggies Snug and Dry, but the new version is horrid,” one reviewer stated in an Amazon review. “My baby would wake up with tiny pieces of glue or whatever the material that they are using now on his skin, this is only after 6-7 [sic] hs of wear at night. The sticky substance that supposed to be inside the diaper somehow leaks and ends up on baby’s skin and eventually irritates and you have a diaper rash or worse.”

The Huggies class action claims that Kimberly-Clark knew about the problems associated with their diaper products but continued to sell them regardless of possible injuries to children. Kimberly-Clark allegedly acknowledged the complaints of parents on Facebook as early as 2013.

“We take any concerns about our diapers very seriously, and we are working directly with this mom to learn more about what happened and how we can help,” the company reportedly said on their Facebook page.

Despite this statement, the company has allegedly continued to sell defective products which injure children, the Huggies Snug & Dry class action states.

Morales seeks to represent a Class of consumers who purchased Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers within the applicable period. Alternatively, Morales proposed to represent a New York Class of the same consumers protected under New York consumer laws.

The Huggies class action seeks restitution, disgorgement, compensatory damages, statutory damages, court costs, and attorneys’ fees.

Plaintiffs are represented by C.K. Lee and Anne Seelig of Lee Litigation Group PLLC.

The Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers Class Action Lawsuit is Morales v. Kimberly-Clark Corporation, Case No. 7:18-cv-07401, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.

We started using Huggies snug and dry one week ago today. Have not eve made it through one side of the box yet and my 11 month old son has welps anda rash that is so bad that it looks like the skin came off. At first, i did not know it could be the diapers. I just thought maybe his skin is super sensitive and i need to let him walk around free for a bit. So i continued to use the diapers. Which has only added flame to the fire. Horrible that they are still selling these diapers.

  3. STOP ABUSING babies worldwide says:

When will these diapers finally be recalled like they should have apparently at least 7 years ago. Crazy this Kimberly Clark is getting away with this. All consumers with injured babies should be compensated! The public was not warned about the harm this product can and DOES do to innocent babies. This should be not acceptable. Babies are still being HARMED and ABUSED on daily basis because of this indeficient product. Where is the Justice

I SUFFER FROM HURTING BURNS – RASH — To realize What products are contained in diapers — ADULT Pull-Ups – FOR REFERENCE –

CHEMICALS in Disposable diapers frequently contain chemicals called volatile organic compounds (VOCs). These include chemicals such as ethylbenzene, toluene, xylene and dipentene.

Ethylbenzene is a colorless, flammable liquid that smells like gasoline. It is found in natural products such as coal tar and petroleum and is also found in manufactured products such as inks, insecticides, and paints. Ethylbenzene is used primarily to make another chemical, styrene.

Toluene (/ˈtɒljuiːn/), also known as toluol (/ˈtɒljuɒl/), is an aromatic hydrocarbon. It is a colorless, water-insoluble liquid with the smell associated with paint thinners. It is a mono-substituted benzene derivative, consisting of a CH3 group attached to a phenyl group

Toluene has numerous commercial and industrial applications and is a solvent in paints, lacquers, thinners, glues, correction fluid and nail polish remover, and is used in the printing and leather tanning processes. Methylbenzene can also be used as a fullerene indicator, and is a raw material for toluene diisocyanate

Dipentene is a terpene liquid found in various volatile oils such as cardamon, mace, nutmeg , turpentine oil. Dipentene is mainly composed of limonene, beta phellandrene, myrcene and other terpenes. Dipentene is used as a solvent for resins, alkyds and waxes and to make paints, enamels, lacquers and polishes.

Xylene is an aromatic hydrocarbon widely used in industry and medical technology as a solvent. It is a colorless, sweet-smelling liquid or gas occurring naturally in petroleum, coal and wood tar, and is so named because it is found in crude wood spirits

Yesterday was my first time opening up a package of huggies. Thought i’d try them since we finished a pack of pampers brand diapers which i recomend. First diaper was on for barely 5 minutes until my 3 week old daughter peed. I decided to give her a bath after removing that diaper & I noticed she looked a little red down below & shes never had any problems down their before. After the bath I put another horrible huggies snug & dry on her. She became very irritable and unhappy, crying. When i went to change her this time her bottom and private area & even upper legs were extremely red, irritated. Imagine i would of kept the diaper on longer! I googled these diapers and noticed they have a class action lawsuit against them for this brand for “chemical burns” and severe rash. WHY ARE THESE STILL BEING SOLD ON THE MARKET AFTER THIS LAWSUIT & new complaints every day. These innocent innocent babies are being harmed & abused every day with this horrible product !!!
