HelloFresh recall overview:

  • Who: HelloFresh is recalling two ready-to-eat meal products produced by FreshRealm.
  • Why: The recall is due to potential listeria contamination in the spinach used in these meals.
  • Where: The recall is active across the United States.

HelloFresh has recalled two ready-to-eat meal products produced by FreshRealm and shipped to consumers in the United States due to potential listeria contamination.

The Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) issued a public health alert on Oct. 6, warning consumers about the possible contamination.

The affected products include the “HelloFresh Ready Made Meals Cheesy Pulled Pork Pepper Pasta” in 10.1-oz. containers with establishment numbers 47718 and 2937 and lot codes 49107 and 48840. Also included is the “HelloFresh Ready Made Meals Unstuffed Peppers With Ground Turkey” with establishment number P-47718 and lot codes 50069, 50073 and 50698.

The contamination was discovered when FreshRealm reported that spinach used in these meals tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes.

According to the FSIS, listeriosis is a serious infection that can cause severe symptoms, especially in older adults, individuals with weakened immune systems and pregnant women.

FreshRealm has confirmed that the listeria strain found does not match any ongoing outbreak investigations.

Consumers advised to discard affected HelloFresh meals

The FSIS has urged consumers to discard or return the affected HelloFresh meals. “Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase,” the recall notice advises.

FreshRealm, the producer of the meals, detected the contamination in spinach supplied by Sno Pac Foods, which has also initiated a recall of its spinach products.

HelloFresh has contacted customers who may have received the contaminated meals between Sept. 6 and Oct. 9, 2025, advising them to discard the products immediately. “We take this matter very seriously,” HelloFresh stated in media reports, emphasizing its commitment to customer safety. FreshRealm has also assured that it is collaborating with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and FSIS to manage the situation.

To address the issue, HelloFresh and FreshRealm have taken proactive measures, including notifying public health agencies and the ingredient supplier. “The findings were promptly managed under FreshRealm’s food safety and recall procedures,” FreshRealm stated.

Consumers seeking more information about the recall can contact FreshRealm’s customer service hotline at 1-888-244-1562 or email [email protected]. For food safety questions, the USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline is available at 888-MPHotline (888-674-6854).

HelloFresh says it has not received any reports of illness related to the recall so far. The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

Earlier this month, TreeHouse Foods recalled certain frozen waffle products sold under multiple brand names because they may also be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
