Gerber recall overview:

  • Who: Gerber Products Company is recalling limited batches of Gerber Arrowroot Biscuits.
  • Why: The recall is due to the potential presence of soft plastic and/or paper pieces in the product.
  • Where: The recall is active in the United States.

Gerber has initiated a voluntary recall of specific batches of its Gerber Arrowroot Biscuits following concerns about foreign materials found in the product.

The recall affects limited batches produced between July and September 2025, with the potential presence of soft plastic and/or paper pieces being the primary concern.

The recall was announced on Jan. 26 and published by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Jan. 28. It applies to Gerber Arrowroot Biscuits 5.5oz products, identifiable by specific batch codes listed on the packaging. These codes include 5198565504 and 5202565504, among others, with best before dates ranging from Oct. 16 to Dec. 16, 2026.

According to the recall, the issue stems from an arrowroot flour supplier who had previously initiated a recall, prompting Gerber to cease working with them.

“The quality, safety and integrity of our products remain our highest priority, and we take this responsibility seriously,” the recall states.

Consumers advised to return affected products

Gerber advises consumers who have purchased the affected Gerber Arrowroot Biscuits not to feed them to their children. Instead, they should return the product to the place of purchase for a refund.

The company is working closely with the FDA to ensure a thorough review and resolution of the issue.

To address the situation, Gerber has stopped sourcing from the implicated flour supplier and is cooperating fully with the FDA’s investigation. The company emphasizes its commitment to product safety and quality, reassuring customers of its dedication to resolving the issue promptly.

For further information, consumers can contact Gerber’s customer support, available 24/7 at 1-800-4-GERBER or 1-800-443-7237.

Gerber says it has not received any reports of illness or injury related to the recall so far. The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.
