The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) sent the following refunds in April to consumers who qualify to benefit from settlements made with the agency to resolve various claims.
BetterHelp refunds
The FTC sent a second round of refund checks to consumers who allegedly had their private data exposed by the mental health platform BetterHelp and who accepted a previous payment.
The FTC refunds are part of a settlement made by BetterHelp to end claims that it shared its users’ private data with Facebook, Snapchat, Pinterest, and Criteo for advertising purposes.
The FTC previously sent nearly $5.2 million in refunds to consumers in June 2024. It has now sent more than $2.6 million in remaining funds to more than 534,000 individuals who accepted that first round of payments.
The BetterHelp settlement benefits a class of consumers who signed up and paid for services from a BetterHelp website between Aug. 1, 2017, and Dec. 3, 2020.
Lifewatch refunds
The FTC has sent a third round of refund checks to consumers who paid for in-home medical alert devices from Lifewatch that were advertised as free and who cashed a previous check sent in September 2023.
The FTC refunds are part of a settlement made by healthcare technology company Lifewatch to end claims it misled consumers by using robocalls and telemarketers to falsely advertise the medical alert systems as free.
The FTC previously sent refund checks totaling more than $1.4 million in December 2021 and September 2023. The agency said its latest round of refunds — from money still remaining in the settlement fund — involves 19,125 checks totaling more than $277,000.
Consumers who receive a refund check are asked to cash it within 90 days.
The Bountiful Company refunds
The FTC has sent a second round of refund checks to consumers who purchased certain Nature’s Bounty and Sundown-brand vitamins and supplements from The Bountiful Company on Amazon.com and who accepted a previous refund payment.
The FTC refunds are part of a settlement made by The Bountiful Company, which sells dietary supplements and related products. The settlement ends claims that the company abused the product rating and review system on Amazon.com to increase sales.
The FTC previously sent more than $326,000 in refund checks in March 2024. The agency said that, since there was still money in the settlement fund, it decided to send an additional 19,832 refund checks — totaling more than $159,000 — to consumers who accepted the first payment.
Consumers who receive a refund check are asked to cash it within 90 days.
Publishers Clearing House refunds
The FTC is sending out payments to more than 547,000 consumers as part of a settlement with Publishers Clearing House (PCH), which allegedly used deceptive sweepstakes marketing tactics.
According to the FTC, PCH tricked consumers into believing they had to make a purchase or pay fees to increase their chances of winning sweepstakes prizes. The settlement requires PCH to pay $18.5 million, which the FTC is distributing as refunds.
Most consumers will receive a PayPal payment, while others will get a check in the mail. The FTC advises recipients to cash or deposit their checks within 90 days.

152 thoughts onFTC refunds issued in April 2025: Who’s getting paid?
My mom was scammed for over 2k by publishers clearing house and was angry with me for telling her I was taking over her finances. Her Nurse Assistant helped her get around me by taking her to the bank to withdraw cash and send money orders. PISSED OFF!
Why don’t you sue the nurse assistant in small claims court for at very least monetary damages, negligence and I don’t know the full story but I’m sure a lawyer would be able to find more to add onto that cause I don’t believe the assistant would have any jurisdiction or anything over your mom’s financial stuff since she’s in the medical field and not the financial field lol but I mean if it’s as simple as it sounds like in your comment here then I’d imagine it being a open and shut case for you to win easily enough…please note I’m not a lawyer or anything like that But I’ve seen enough of the legal system to know how they do things at least I think so 😉 lol
