Ford has initiated a recall of more than 312,000 vehicles, including several popular models, due to a defect in the electronic power brake assist system that may lead to extended stopping distances and heightened crash risk.
Ford’s Expedition/Navigator Rapid Response Team announced the recall on May 14, 2025 following an investigation. The affected vehicles, manufactured between November 2023 and June 2025, include the 2025 F-150, Ranger, Expedition, Bronco and Lincoln Navigator models.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the electronic brake booster (EBB) module in these vehicles may malfunction, particularly when advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) features are in use, leading to a loss of power brake assist.
The EBB module’s malfunction is attributed to voltage changes that can cause a momentary current spike, exceeding the unit’s over-current monitoring threshold. This issue results in the EBB motor shutting down, causing a loss of power brake assist.
Drivers can do an over-the-air software update, recall states
The recall was approved by Ford’s Field Review Committee on July 18 after the company received 37 warranty claims related to the issue, including one alleged low-speed crash. However, no injuries have been reported.
Ford plans to address the problem with an over-the-air software update, which will correct the EBB module’s response to voltage changes. Alternatively, owners can schedule a service appointment at a dealership to have the update performed free of charge.
Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on Aug. 25, providing further instructions on how to proceed.
For more information about the recall, consumers can contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Additionally, details are available on the NHTSA website under ID number 25V488000.
Ford says it has not received any reports of injuries related to the recall so far. The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.
Ford has recently initiated several recalls and faced multiple class action lawsuits involving issues with its vehicles’ oil pumps, rear subframe assemblies, 10-speed transmissions, seat belts, engines and battery monitor sensors.

I have a 2015 Dodge Ram that the ABS Brake module has gone out and there is no replacement. The module has been on backorder for almost two years. I have called every Dodge Ram dealer in a 200 mile radius and they have told me the same thing, the parts are on back order. What can I do?
