atrial fibrillation Pradaxa Xarelto EliquisAfter experiencing severe injury and complications from their use of Pradaxa, many patients have gone on to file a Pradaxa uncontrollable bleeding lawsuit.

If you find that you or a loved one has experienced similar complications from Pradaxa use, you may decide to file a Pradaxa uncontrollable bleeding lawsuit of your own.

What is Pradaxa?

Pradaxa is an oral anticoagulant drug, also known as a blood thinner.

Pradaxa is designed to prevent stroke in patients who suffer from a condition known as atrial fibrillation. In atrial fibrillation, the heart beats abnormally, and this can sometimes cause the blood to pool. Clots may form in the pooled blood.

By thinning the blood, Pradaxa can help patients avoid suffering from a stroke if they have atrial fibrillation.

Atrial fibrillation patients have a 4 to 6 times higher risk of suffering from a stroke than the normal population, so this drug can be very effective in certain patients.

While Pradaxa can be very effective in preventing blood clots, it also comes with a risk of side effects.

Thousands of individuals have reported to the FDA following severe uncontrollable bleeding events that resulted from Pradaxa use.

Many patients suffering from uncontrollable bleeding had fatal outcomes.

Mild Pradaxa Side Effects

As with any prescription or over-the-counter medication, Pradaxa comes with its own set of side effects.

Most side effects linked with Pradaxa use are mild. Nosebleeds, easy bruising, and bleeding from minor scrapes and cuts are common with the use of Pradaxa and other oral anticoagulant medications.

Patients should inform their doctors and dentists if they are taking blood thinners so any potential side effects related to surgery or other procedures is avoided.

Other mild side effects seen with Pradaxa use include nausea, indigestion, vomiting and heartburn.

Some of these side effects may go away after the body adjusts to the medication, and other times they may be more chronic. However, most physicians and patients agree to continue the use of the drug based on its benefits outweighing the risk of mild side effects.

Severe Pradaxa Side Effects

The severe side effects associated with Pradaxa use revolve around uncontrollable bleeding concerns. Uncontrolled internal bleeding complications are typically seen in two areas of the body.

The first area is bleeding in the gastrointestinal tract. This can include bleeding or originating from any number of organs in the gastrointestinal system.

The second location commonly seen in Pradaxa severe bleeding side effects is the brain.

Known as a cerebral hemorrhage, bleeding in the brain can cause mild to severe symptoms and can even be fatal. The same is the case for gastrointestinal bleeding.
