Happy woman showing gift cardTop Class Actions viewers are reportedly receiving store vouchers worth $10 in connection with a FedEx class action settlement.

The FedEx class action settlement benefited individuals who used an Office Self-Service Express Pay kiosk at FedEx between Jan. 21, 2017 and Aug. 23, 2017. Businesses were not eligible to file a claim with the settlement, the deal was only open to individual consumers.

These settlement Class Members were eligible to collect between $10 and $25 in store value gift cards. Gift cards totaling $25 were available for Class Members who could show receipts which did not comply with Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act. $10 gift cards were available for individuals who could not provide a receipt.

The FedEx FACTA settlement provided one gift card per household which must be used within six months of being issued.

The gift card can be used for self-service transactions such as black and white copies, color copies, printing, facsimiles, computer rentals, and digital photo stations.

The FedEx class action settlement resolved claims that the company violated the FACTA by printing too much credit card information on receipts.

FedEx Office Self-Service Express Pay kiosks allegedly printed receipts containing the first two and last four digits of credit card numbers. This allegedly violated the FACTA requirement which allows only the last five digits of a credit card number to be printed on a receipt.

The plaintiffs argued that FedEx “deliberately, willfully, intentionally, recklessly, and negligently violated FACTA” by printing excessive digits on credit card receipts.

FedEx did not admit any wrongdoing but agreed to settle the FACTA claims against them to avoid the costs of continued litigation.

In addition to providing Class Member vouchers, the FedEx FACTA class action settlement provided $510,000 in attorneys’ fees and court costs along with $5,000 service awards for each of the named plaintiffs.

In order to receive a payment from the FedEx FACTA class action settlement, Class Members had to file a valid claim form by March 8, 2019. The settlement was granted final approval on May 1, 2019.
