Electrolux oven class action lawsuit overview:

  • Who: Plaintiff Amanda Yanovitch filed a class action lawsuit against Electrolux Consumer Products Inc.
  • Why: Yanovitch claims Electrolux sold Frigidaire ovens with a dangerous defect that causes the glass window on the front of the appliance to explode.
  • Where: The class action lawsuit was filed in Delaware federal court.

A new class action lawsuit claims Electrolux sold Frigidaire ovens with a dangerous defect that causes the glass window on the front of the appliance to explode.

Plaintiff Amanda Yanovitch claims Electrolux failed to disclose that the glass window on the Frigidaire ovens has a propensity to explode spontaneously and without external impact or misuse by the consumer.

Yanovitch argues the defect creates a serious safety issue and renders the ovens unusable after it manifests.

“Electrolux is unwilling to acknowledge the defect, much less to eliminate it, or to provide refunds to consumers who have encountered it,” the Frigidaire class action lawsuit says.

Electrolux failed to disclose Frigidaire oven defect, class action alleges

Yanovitch argues Electrolux has known since at least 2011 that its Frigidaire ovens were susceptible to the glass doors spontaneously exploding.

“Despite numerous customer complaints — including those directly posted on Electrolux’s own website — Electrolux refused to take action in the form of a recall or refund of the full purchase price,” the Frigidaire class action lawsuit says.

Yanovitch claims Electrolux has also breached implied warranties and engaged in unfair and deceptive business practices.

“Because the existence of the defect was concealed by Electrolux, the plaintiff and the class were deceived and deprived of the benefit of their bargain,” the class action says. “A glass door on an oven that spontaneously explodes, without warning, has no value because it cannot be used safely.”

Yanovitch wants to represent a nationwide class and Virginia subclass of consumers who own, or previously owned, a Frigidaire oven. She demands a jury trial and requests declaratory and injunctive relief and an award of actual, statutory and treble damages for herself and all class members.

In another class action lawsuit, Electrolux was sued over allegations that it violated state and federal consumer protection laws due to a defect in certain Frigidaire gas ranges that allegedly prevents them from heating to the desired temperature.

I bought a Frigidaire stove top and used it for 1 yr and four days and it shattered when the stovetop was off and lucky I was not home . They reluctantly replaced it and the repair man warned me about the stovetop it was not very safe. Then 1 yr and 4 months later the new glass exploded while I was cooking. I had the dial on number 5 but it seemed that the burner was getting hotter than normal. I called in again not only will they not fix it they say I never had the first repair. I am a single mother, Friday, and an American veteran I expected them to stand by their product but they are not!!!

I currently have one. You need at also add their refrigerators to a claim. The ice makers quit working and the fridge quits cooling. I had about 10 service calls before they finally refunded me. I went 5 months with no refrigerator. I had water damage and lost over 900.00 ion food. It caused mental and physical harm. I’m a senior with health issues that require a specific diet. I was unable to purchase refrigerated food. I only got a refund after sending a demand letter . They know this refrigerator is defective and continue to sell it.

    Wish to be included

  5. Brandon Smith says:

I would like to be included in this suit. My front glass on my Frigidaire electric oven and range exploded just now 9pm on January 10th 2026. The oven was not used today. This is the second time this has happened to me I ordered the factory replacement glass from Frigidaire last time when it shattered on the morning of August 19th 2024. This is a recurring problem and happens with proper care and when the oven is not in use.
