Dupray USA has announced a recall of its Neat Steam Cleaners due to potential safety hazards. The Dupray recall affects over 651,000 units sold in the United States and nearly 97,000 in Canada.
The issue arises from the steam cleaner’s boiler, which can rupture if overfilled, or if corrosion causes a pressure release valve malfunction, leading to burn risks or serious injuries.
The recall, issued on Feb. 26, applies to the Dupray Neat Steam Cleaner, model number DUP020WNA, with batch/date codes ranging from 0118-01 to 0425-05. These codes can be found on the rating label at the bottom of the cleaner. The product, designed for cleaning and sanitizing household surfaces, includes a white base and a black flexible hose, along with an accessory set.
Consumers are advised to stop using the steam cleaner immediately and visit Dupray’s website for instructions on obtaining a free replacement safety boiler cap.
The new cap is designed to be easily installed with a screw-on mechanism. The Dupray recall notice emphasizes the importance of using the batch code to verify eligibility for the replacement.
Dupray addresses safety concerns with free replacement amid reports of injuries
The recall notice highlights that Dupray USA has received 15 reports of boiler ruptures, which include incidents of minor burns, bruises, lacerations and a broken wrist. Additionally, there have been at least seven reports of minor property damage.
Dupray USA is taking corrective action by offering a free replacement safety boiler cap to all affected consumers. The company has provided detailed instructions on its website for obtaining and installing the new cap, ensuring that the process is straightforward and accessible.
