Cymbalta-lawsuits

Cymbalta, an increasingly popular drug used to treat depression, diabetic neuropathy, chronic pain, and other illnesses, has recently become the target of Cymbalta withdrawal lawsuits filed by patients who claim that the drug’s withdrawal symptoms are too severe.

Cymbalta withdrawal lawsuits allege that the symptoms associated with Cymbalta withdrawal are unexpectedly severe, and that consumers were not properly warned about these symptoms prior to purchase and ingestion of the drug. According to lawsuits, Cymbalta users are often not informed of the difficulty involved in stopping treatment.

Cymbalta Withdrawal Symptoms

Cymbalta has been associated with severe withdrawal symptoms. Some of the Cymbalta withdrawal symptoms include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Dizziness
  • Tunnel vision
  • Brain zaps (shock sensations in the brain)
  • Severe nausea and headaches

These Cymbalta withdrawal symptoms are reportedly severe, and affect patients’ ability to function in mundane daily tasks. Instead of simply alleviating the problems linked with the illnesses the drug was prescribed to treat, Cymbalta withdrawal symptoms make it so that a patient’s mental clarity is clouded and normal life becomes difficult.

According to Cymbalta withdrawal lawsuits, the withdrawal symptoms associated with Cymbalta typically last longer than the withdrawal symptoms of other medications. Sometimes, severe antidepressant withdrawal symptoms can continue for many months.

Some users of Cymbalta find the Cymbalta withdrawal symptoms to be so severe that they end up becoming dependent on the drug, and keep taking the drug after their medical need has passed in order to avoid the severe symptoms.

Some patients make this choice consciously, but some patients attempt to stop taking the drug and fail because they cannot handle the effects.

Such strong Cymbalta withdrawal symptoms for a lengthy period of time can have dramatic effects on a person’s life.

Cymbalta Withdrawal Lawsuits

Cymbalta withdrawal lawsuits allege that the drug has negatively affected both work life and family life, and has led to medical, financial, and emotional losses.

Plaintiffs claim that Cymbalta manufacturer Eli Lilly does not adequately warn of these effects, including their existence, probability of occurrence, and severity prior to purchase.

Injured parties have filed lawsuits against Eli Lilly for failing to be transparent about the strength and duration of Cymbalta withdrawal symptoms.

Plaintiffs claim that Cymbalta’s advertisement of its product was deceptive to the public, saying only 1 percent of users experience withdrawal symptoms, when the real number is allegedly closer to 45 percent.

Other plaintiffs claim that Eli Lilly benefited from those patients who experienced such harsh withdrawal symptoms that they became dependent on the drug, thus paying more money to the manufacturer.

These plaintiffs claim hold that Eli Lilly had clear evidence of the potential danger of their product, but failed to provide information that would help their consumers in order to make more money.

Others go further, and instead of claiming that Eli Lilly mislabeled or misrepresented their drug and is guilty of faulty or misleading advertising, argue that the drug is simply defective and therefore dangerous.

Withdrawal symptoms that have lead patients to file Cymbalta lawsuits include brain zaps, suicidal thoughts, dizziness, nausea, nightmares, and weight changes. All of these symptoms are potentially extremely dangerous for patients.

If you or someone you that know have suffered from withdrawal symptoms such after taking Cymbalta, you may be able to file a Cymbalta withdrawal lawsuit.
