Ground beef recall overview:

  • Who: CS Beef Packers LLC is recalling approximately 22,912 pounds of raw ground beef products.
  • Why: The recall is due to potential contamination with E. coli O145.
  • Where: The recall is active in the United States, specifically affecting distributors in California, Idaho and Oregon.

CS Beef Packers has issued a ground beef recall for more than 22,000 pounds of raw ground beef products due to potential contamination with E. coli O145. The recall affects products distributed in California, Idaho and Oregon.

The recall was announced on Feb. 11 by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

The affected products were produced on Jan.14, 2026, and included various types of ground beef packaged in 10-pound chubs with specific case codes and “Use/Freeze By” dates of Feb. 4, 2026.

These products bear the establishment number “EST. 630” and were shipped to distributors for further distribution to foodservice locations.

The contamination was discovered during FSIS testing at a downstream customer, which revealed the presence of E. coli O145. This strain of E. coli can cause severe illness, including diarrhea and vomiting, and in rare cases, can lead to hemolytic uremic syndrome, a type of kidney failure.

“FSIS is concerned that some products may be in foodservice freezers,” the recall notice states, urging foodservice locations to dispose of or return these products.

Consumers urged to discontinue use of affected ground beef products

The recall notice advises consumers to immediately discontinue use of the product and return it to the place of purchase or discard it.

The FSIS routinely checks the effectiveness of recalls to ensure that products are removed from circulation and that customers are informed.

CS Beef Packers is taking steps to address the issue by notifying distributors and ensuring that the contaminated products are no longer available to consumers. The company is cooperating with the FSIS to ensure the recall’s effectiveness and prevent further distribution of the affected products.

For more information about the ground beef recall, consumers can contact Roger Cooper, operations manager of CS Beef Packers, at 208-810-7510 ext 7531 or via email at [email protected]. Additional information is available on the FSIS website.

CS Beef Packers states that there have been no confirmed reports of illness related to the recalled products so far. The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions monitors recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

Last year, Mountain West Food Group recalled more than 2,800 pounds of its Forward Farms beef products due to concerns about E. coli O26 contamination.
