The consumers allege that Continental Casualty long term care insurance was purchased in order to give them peace of mind about their financial and health related future but when it came time to file a claim, they were inappropriately denied the benefits they had paid for.

The company is also suspected of imposing excessive premium hikes. Major premium increases have occurred recently at many different long-term care insurance companies, even for those policyholders who paid for premiums that guaranteed reduced premiums after age 35 or after ten years.

Unfortunately, many people who have purchased Continental Casualty long term care insurance may have experienced claim denials as well. Many people turn to long term insurance to pay for the crucial health care benefits if and when a long-term care event occurs.

Long term care insurance, like those policies provided by Continental Casualty, are intended to kick in once a person has suffered a serious disabling event or diagnosis that requires ongoing medical treatment. Many of the patients who end up purchasing an LTC policy need to enter a nursing home after a critical event. An LTC policy can protect their individual assets.

Given the number of individuals who may need a nursing home or other types of intensive care at some point during their elder years, the denial of Continental Casualty long term care insurance can be a devastating shock and one that could even decimate the person’s financial situation. Long term care insurance is put in place to help pay for extended care at assisted living facilities or nursing homes. This can assist with intermediate or skilled care from therapists or nurses or daily needs.

Many people recognized the significant costs associated with long term care events and opted to purchase a Continental Casualty long term care insurance policy to guard their personal assets and step in to help them with the necessary treatment, should a medical event arise. Long term care insurance companies, however, have been accused of raising rates significantly.

Furthermore, Continental Casualty long term care insurance and other companies have been suspected of delaying or denying insurance claims for a number of different reasons, despite the fact that the policyholders routinely and faithfully paid their premiums over the course of many years. These long-term care insurance companies may deny claims for coverage at assisted living facilities even though the policies allow for coverage at a broad number of different types of facilities, according to the class action investigation.

Those individuals who may be otherwise unable to pay for long term care or assisted living may face a very difficult situation when their claim is denied by Continental Casualty long term care insurance and this may prompt them to participate in an investigation or a lawsuit against the company.
