SharkNinja cookware class action lawsuit overview:

  • Who: Plaintiff Patricia Brown filed a class action lawsuit against SharkNinja Operating LLC.
  • Why: Brown claims SharkNinja misrepresents that its NeverStick Premium Cookware products never stick, chip or flake.
  • Where: The SharkNinja class action lawsuit was filed in New Jersey state court.

A new class action lawsuit alleges SharkNinja falsely advertised its NeverStick Premium cookware as being nonstick.

Plaintiff Patricia Brown filed the class action complaint against SharkNinja Operating LLC on Nov. 13 in New Jersey state court, alleging violations of the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act.

According to the lawsuit, SharkNinja’s cookware claims to “Never stick, chip or flake” and is promoted as being manufactured at an impossibly high temperature of 30,000 degrees Fahrenheit.

Brown alleges the cookware’s packaging and marketing are misleading, as the cookware actually loses its nonstick properties quickly and cannot withstand high temperatures.

The lawsuit argues that SharkNinja’s claims about the cookware’s durability and manufacturing process are false and designed to deceive consumers into paying a premium price.

Brown says she purchased the cookware based on these claims, only to find that it did not perform as advertised.

SharkNinja previously criticized for advertising practices, class action claims

The lawsuit goes on to allege that SharkNinja has been previously criticized for similar advertising practices.

In 2021, the National Advertising Division of the Better Business Bureau recommended in a website post that SharkNinja discontinue its claims that the cookware “never sticks, chips or flakes,” the lawsuit says.

Brown seeks to represent a class of all consumers who purchased NeverStick Premium cookware in New Jersey based on the allegedly false advertising. She is suing for violations of the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act and is seeking certification of the class action, damages, fees, costs and a jury trial.

SharkNinja is currently facing a $3.75 million lawsuit related to a blender container that allegedly exploded, causing  “severe and permanent” injuries, including near-total loss of vision in the eye of a Michigan woman.
