Asana Rebel class action lawsuit overview:

  • Who: Plaintiff Kristin Adamiec filed a class action lawsuit against Asana Rebel GmbH.
  • Why: Adamiec claims Asana Rebel automatically renews its health and fitness app subscriptions without properly disclosing the terms to consumers.
  • Where: The Asana Rebel class action lawsuit was filed in Illinois federal court.

A new class action lawsuit alleges health and fitness app company Asana Rebel automatically renews its subscriptions without properly disclosing the terms to consumers.

Plaintiff Kristin Adamiec claims Asana Rebel uses “deceptive and illegal” automatic renewal tactics to trick consumers into paying for unwanted subscriptions to its app.

Adamiec argues Asana Rebel intentionally misleads consumers into thinking they can subscribe to the app for a discrete period of time, when, in reality, the subscriptions automatically renew.

“Asana Rebel’s ‘disclosures’ regarding the ongoing charges are hidden from consumers both before and after purchase,” the Asana Rebel class action lawsuit says. “Asana Rebel’s enrollment and post-purchase practices therefore violate the Illinois Automatic Contract Renewal Act and the common law.”

Asana Rebel makes it difficult to cancel subscriptions, class action claims

Adamiec claims Asana Rebel makes it difficult for consumers to cancel their subscriptions, which she argues also violates the Illinois Automatic Contract Renewal Act.

The plaintiff wants to represent a class of Illinois consumers who were automatically enrolled into and charged for at least one month of an Asana Rebel membership at any time from the applicable statute of limitations period to the date of judgment.

The Asana Rebel class action lawsuit makes claims for violations of the Illinois Automatic Contract Renewal Act and Illinois Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act and for conversion, unjust enrichment and money had and received.

Adamiec demands a jury trial and requests declaratory and injunctive relief and an award of compensatory and punitive damages for herself and all class members.

Meanwhile, two consumers filed a class action lawsuit against WW International Inc., the parent company of Weight Watchers, accusing it of using fake sales to promote its weight loss subscriptions.
