Chomps Original Beef Stick recall overview:

  • Who: Idaho Smokehouse Partners is recalling approximately 29,541 pounds of ready-to-eat beef stick products.
  • Why: The recall is due to potential contamination with foreign material, specifically metal.
  • Where: The recall is effective in the United States, specifically in retail locations in California and Illinois.

Idaho Smokehouse Partners issued a recall for more than 29,000 pounds of its ready-to-eat beef stick products due to potential metal contamination, affecting products distributed in California and Illinois.

The recall was announced by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) on March 20, 2025. The affected product is the “CHOMPS ORIGINAL BEEF STICK MILD” in 1.15-oz vacuum-sealed packages, produced between Jan. 13 and 15, 2025.

The recalled packages bear the establishment number “6220A” and have an expiration date of Feb. 10, 2026, with lot code 25016, according to the Chomps Original Beef Stick recall.

Idaho Smokehouse decided to initiate the recall after receiving two consumer complaints about metal pieces found in the product, according to the FSIS, which said it is concerned that some of the recalled products “may be in consumers’ pantries.”

Consumers advised not to consume recalled ready-to-eat beef sticks

Idaho Smokehouse said it has not received any reports of illness or injury related to the recall so far. Consumers are advised to dispose of or return the recalled beef stick products to their original place of purchase.

For more information, consumers can visit the Chomps website at www.chomps.com/recall or contact Idaho Smokehouse Partners directly at 208-227-5282.

The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

Feel Good Foods issued a similar recall in early February for more than 4,200 cases of its Three Cheese Mac & Cheese Bites over concerns of a possible presence of small pieces of metal in the frozen snacks.
