In two separate recalls, Crate and Barrel is recalling 620 of its Be the Band Music Sets due to choking and suffocation hazards, and Kelly Wynne is recalling 1,050 of its Mama & Me MINI Children’s Handbags due to excess lead.
Band Set Maracas Contain Risky Metal Beads
In a recall notice posted to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Crate and Barrel says the maracas that come as part of the band set can break or become unscrewed and release the metal beads inside, posing choking and suffocation hazards to young children.
The company says it has received six reports of broken or unscrewed maracas, but, luckily, no injuries have been reported. The set, intended for use by those ages 3 and up, includes a table with drum pads and sticks, cymbals, maracas and xylophone keys. The product SKU 346895 is located on a label on the underside of the table.
“Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled Be the Band Music Sets and contact Crate and Barrel for instructions on how to receive a refund in the form of a $20 store credit for the maracas,” the recall notice states.
Crate and Barrel says it is contacting all known purchasers directly.
Kelly Wynne Bags Should Be Immediately Taken From Children
Meanwhile, Kelly Wynne says in a recall notice posted by CPSC that the metal zipper slider, zipper 0-ring, d-ring, rivet and stud of the children’s handbags contain levels of lead that exceed the federal lead content ban.
“Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health issues,” the recall notice explains.
The children’s handbags were sold online at Kelly Wynne and Nordstrom from July 2020 through October 2021 for $28 in three different colors or color combinations: coral, coral/purple and taupe. The handbags have a top zipper, an interior slip pocket and a detachable, 21-inch gold and leather strap that can be shortened or removed, the notice says. The Kelly Wynne logo is printed on a golden sewn-in label located on the inside of the handbag.
The following SKU and UPC numbers combinations can be found on the order invoice:
- SKU MINI505 and UPC 850023783271
- SKU MINI875 and UPC 850023783288
- SKU MINI500 and UPC 850023783288
Kelly Wynne is calling on consumers to immediately take the recalled handbags away from children and contact Kelly Wynne for a full refund if purchased at kellywynne.com or contact Nordstrom if purchased at Nordstrom.com.
“Kelly Wynne and Nordstrom are contacting all known purchasers directly, and will provide prepaid shipping labels for consumers to return the recalled product for a full refund,” the recall notice says.
