Blue Ridge Beef has issued a recall for its Kitten Mix and Puppy Mix products after they tested positive for Salmonella and Listeria contamination. The recall affects more than 2,000 lbs of pet food distributed across several states in the United States.
The Blue Ridge Beef recall was announced on April 11, 2025, following a customer complaint about an animal illness. This is the second recall in a matter of months for Blue Ridge Beef’s Kitten Mix products.
The affected products include 2 lb logs of Kitten Mix with lot number N26 0114 and 2 lb logs of Puppy Mix with lot number N25 1230, distributed between January 3 and January 24, 2025.
According to the recall, the contamination poses a risk to both animals and humans. “Salmonella and Listeria can affect animals eating the products, and there is risk to humans from handling contaminated pet products,” the recall states.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has confirmed the Salmonella and Listeria contamination in the products following tests conducted by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets.
