Best Buy Bones, Inc. is recalling some of its Nature’s Own Pet Chews Bully Bites due to potential salmonella contamination.
This Bully Bites recall affects 34 bags of the product, which were distributed in Minnesota and sold in Wisconsin stores after Sept. 23, 2025.
The recall was announced on Oct. 3, 2025, after the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) discovered the contamination during routine testing on Sept.11, 2025. The affected pet treats are packaged in 16-ounce resealable bags and have a UPC number of 739598900750. They are marked with a best-by date of September 2027 and include lot numbers 19379, 19380, 19381, and 19382.
Salmonella can affect animals eating the recalled products; humans are at risk as well from handling the contaminated products, especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after contact with the products or surfaces they have touched, the recall notice says.
Salmonella risks highlighted by Nature’s Own Pet Chews recall
Consumers are advised to immediately discontinue use of the recalled Nature’s Own Pet Chews and either return them to the place of purchase or dispose of them in a manner that prevents access by children, pets, and wildlife.

Symptoms of salmonella infection in humans can include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and fever, while pets may experience lethargy, diarrhea, and vomiting. The FDA advises pet owners to contact their veterinarian if their pet shows signs of illness after consuming the recalled product.
Best Buy Bones, Inc. has ceased production and distribution of the affected product as it works with the FDA to investigate the source of the contamination.
Arnold Mcintyre, the chief operating officer of Best Buy Bones, Inc., told Newsweek on Oct. 3 that the company has identified the locations of all 34 contaminated bags and was at that time waiting on confirmation that they had been destroyed.
