Bayer HealthCare and Johnson & Johnson are facing a new product liability claim from a California man alleging Xarelto irreversible bleeding. According to his Xarelto bleeding lawsuit, the man had allegedly suffered Xarelto irreversible bleeding soon after being prescribed the anticoagulant.
Plaintiff Bruce W. had been prescribed Xarelto to treat his atrial fibrillation and to prevent stroke, as well as other blood clot injuries. Bruce had agreed to use Xarelto after reviewing the marketing materials provided by the manufacturing companies.
During this time, Bruce and his physicians allegedly did not have any knowledge of Xarelto irreversible bleeding possibilities. At all times during his Xarelto prescription, Bruce says he had only used the medication for its intended purpose and did not deviate from prescription instructions.
Even with this diligence, Bruce had reportedly suffered Xarelto irreversible bleeding soon after starting his prescription. With hospitalization, Bruce managed to survive his Xarelto irreversible bleeding ordeal. Bruce had filed his Xarelto bleeding lawsuit after discovering the pharmaceutical companies allegedly failed to disclose this information.
Overview of Xarelto Irreversible Bleeding Complications
Xarelto is a new generation anticoagulant that was released as a joint effort between Johnson & Johnson and Bayer HealthCare. The companies did this after witnessing the success of Pradaxa in 2010, which prompted them to release their own blood thinner in 2011.
It is important to note that Pradaxa was the first blood thinner to be released into the market since warfarin in the 1950s, and it quickly overtook its predecessor in popularity. However, soon after these new generation anticoagulants were released, reports of Xarelto irreversible bleeding as well as other incidents reported in conjunction with these new generation anticoagulants.
When Xarelto and other new generation anticoagulants were released into the market, they were marketed as being overtly superior to warfarin. Not only could these newer blood thinners be prescribed in a single dose, they were also marketed to be more effective than warfarin.
However, there is no reversal agent available in the case Xarelto irreversible bleeding. This lack of a reversal agent has allegedly resulted in numerous near death experiences for patients. In the case of warfarin internal bleeding, patients have the option of implementing vitamin K to stop the bleeding. But until an antidote for Xarelto bleeding is made available, patients will continue to live with a risk of Xarelto irreversible bleeding.
Even though Xarelto irreversible bleeding can be potentially fatal, Bayer HealthCare and Johnson & Johnson allegedly failed to warn patients against this problem. Bruce states that he never would have used the blood thinner, if he had known the risk of Xarelto irreversible bleeding.
