Tasigna medication has been added to the list of atherosclerosis causesThere are many possible atherosclerosis causes, but a number of different scientific studies and recent lawsuits allege that the medication Tasigna may be one of them. Atherosclerosis causes may be tied to circulatory or cardiovascular issues that arise after a patient takes the chemotherapy drug, Tasigna.

Tasigna is often recommended to treat chronic myeloid leukemia. More than one dozen studies around the country have attempted to dig further into atherosclerosis causes and have connected this cancer medication to the life-threatening risk of atherosclerosis.

Development of any serious medical condition while taking another drug may be painful, expensive, and problematic for a patient who wasn’t warned about the possibility of side effects.

When patients have reason to believe that the drug maker knew about the side effect or would have discovered it in reasonable testing and therefore failed to disclose it to patients or the medical community, product liability lawsuits might be filed on behalf of those who suffered.

Defining Atherosclerosis

Atherosclerosis refers to the hardening, narrowing or clogging of the arteries. Over time and if not treated appropriately with medical attention, atherosclerosis can lead to peripheral arterial disease. It can cause a patient’s arteries to swell, ultimately restricting blood flow that moves to the heart, brain, limbs and other parts of the body, which can lead to severe problems like limb amputation or cardiovascular events. These coronary conditions can develop quickly and cause death.

Atherosclerosis causes have been tied to the use of Tasigna in multiple different scientific studies. There are other side effects raised in these medical research programs as well, including risk of stroke, coronary artery disease, infection, peripheral arterial disease, heart attack, embolic occlusion, and circulatory issues of the heart, legs, brain or arms.

History of the Medication Tasigna

Tasigna originally became FDA approved in 2007 specifically for the treatment of chronic myeloid leukemia. In 2016, the company received more than $1.7 billion in sales for this cancer medication. The drug was originally approved with a black box warning related to other side effects of taking the drug but according to plaintiffs who have brought forward lawsuits, atherosclerosis causes were not clearly outlined in the risk profile for this medication.

When the arteries inside a patient become too narrow due to atherosclerosis, peripheral arterial disease may develop. Improper blood circulation caused due to atherosclerosis causes linked to Tasigna may be severe as well as irreversible. Prominent medical journals published in Canada, the United States and Europe have mentioned Tasigna issues related to atherosclerosis.

After the FDA discovered these findings, it was announced that a warning for Tasigna atherosclerosis would be added to the medication’s label. A growing number of Tasigna atherosclerosis lawsuits, however, accuse the company of being aware of the risk for the side effects for multiple years before the addition of an appropriate warning to the drugs label.

In general, Tasigna lawsuits are filed individually by each plaintiff and are not class actions.
