Hisense QLED class action lawsuit overview:

  • Who: A consumer filed a class action lawsuit against Hisense USA Corp.
  • Why: The plaintiff claims Hisense falsely advertises that certain TV models contain quantum dot light-emitting diode (QLED) technology.
  • Where: The class action lawsuit was filed in Illinois federal court.

A new class action lawsuit alleges Hisense falsely advertises certain models of its televisions as containing QLED technology.

Plaintiff Kalp Khamesra claims Hisense markets certain TV models as containing QLED technology even though they do not or contain it in such negligible amounts that it does not meaningfully contribute to the performance or display output.

The Hisense QLED class action lawsuit was filed on April 10 in Illinois federal court.

“Plaintiff and Class Members paid a premium for technology that the televisions did not contain (or contained in such negligible amounts as to not provide the advertised benefits),” the Hisense QLED class action lawsuit states.

Khamesra wants to represent an Illinois class of consumers who purchased a Hisense QD5, QD6, QD65, QD7, U7 or U7N series model television that was marketed as allegedly containing QLED technology.

Hisense failed to disclose TVs had no QLED technology, class action alleges

Khamesra argues Hisense was aware its televisions did not contain the advertised QLED technology or contained it in negligible amounts such that they did not provide the advertised benefits.

Khamesra claims consumers would not have bought the televisions or would have paid substantially less for them had they known the QLED televisions did not contain the advertised technology.

Khamesra claims Hisense is guilty of fraud, negligent misrepresentation and unjust enrichment, violating the Illinois Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Trade Practices Act.

The plaintiff demands a jury trial and requests declaratory and injunctive relief and an award of compensatory, exemplary and statutory damages for himself and all class members.

A separate lawsuit with the same allegations was filed in late February in New York federal court. Hisense is also facing a lawsuit from last year alleging it concealed knowledge of a defective main board in certain TVs that caused significant performance issues.

Khamesra is represented by Andrea R. Gold and David A. McGee of Tycko & Zavareei LLP and Adam A. Edwards, William A. Ladnier and Virginia Ann Whitener of Milberg Coleman Bryson Phillips Grossman PLLC.

The Hisense QLED class action lawsuit is Khamesra v. Hisense USA Corp., Case No. 1:25-cv-03919, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
