all natural personal care productsAll natural personal care products may not be as “all natural” as the label states. While law requires that all products that have the “all natural” label be 100% free of any synthetic ingredients, many companies have allegedly ignored this rule. Customers who purchase the usually more expensive all natural personal care products because of the label may be wasting their money.

In order for a product to be considered 100% all natural, everything from the color to the fragrance cannot contain unnatural ingredients. Many companies have slowly removed the all natural label from their products and have used different marketing methods to attract the same crowd.

All natural personal care products such as lotions, hair products, toothpastes, and more are currently being investigated in an all natural class action lawsuit. Plaintiffs may be able to receive compensation for the money they spent on products because of the all natural label.

New Personal Care Legislation

Two Senators recently sponsored a bill that may impact the way companies approach their all natural labels and their personal care products in general. Senators Dianne Feinstein and Susan Collins found that the guidelines which are used to regulate personal care products have not been updated in several decades. This may be how companies were able to bend or completely ignore the personal care regulations.

The legislation, if passed, would require the FDA to evaluate five ingredients in personal care products each year. This would help evaluate the safety of the ingredients and how they should be used. This could also lead to the recall of multiple personal care products or a change in label if the product is found to have ingredients that do not qualify as all natural.

While this bill was not written about all natural personal care products specifically, it would certainly have an impact on the production and labeling of the products. Such a bill would draw attention to what is actually being put into personal care products and if such ingredients belong there. This would include all natural products.

All Natural Personal Care Lawsuits

Already, many all natural personal care lawsuits have been filed against various companies who allegedly falsely claim that their shampoo, soap, or other personal care product did not contain any synthetic, artificial, or processed materials. One all natural class action lawsuit concluded with the defending company agreeing to a $1.8 million settlement.

With the rise of all natural product popularity, companies may choose the profit over honesty. However, the all natural class action lawsuit investigation that is currently underway may be able to shed light on what is truly inside these healthy, all natural personal care products.
