Above ground pool recall overview:
- Who: Starmatrix Group is recalling about 2,390 Sunneday and Blue Bay above ground pools.
- Why: The pool compression strap may allow children to climb into the pool, posing a drowning risk.
- Where: The recall is effective in the United States.
- How to get help: If your child was severely injured or passed away after climbing into an above ground pool using the reinforcement strap, you may qualify to file a lawsuit.
Another above ground pool recall, this time issued by Starmatrix Group, is in effect for approximately 2,390 Blue Bay and Sunneday pools due to a potential drowning hazard.
The recall affects pools that are 48 inches and taller, as the compression strap surrounding the pool legs can act as a foothold, allowing children to climb into the pool.
The above ground pool recall, announced on Jan. 29, includes specific models of Blue Bay and Sunneday pools. The affected products are Sunneday Oasis Cottage models 70018 and 70024 and Blue Bay models 358015W, 359015G, 360018W, 361018G and 380018T.
These pools, manufactured by Starmatrix Group in China, were sold online at Amazon.com and www.sunneday.com between January 2024 and October 2025, with prices ranging from $500 to $1,210 depending on size and accessories.
Consumers urged to secure pools until a free repair kit is made available
The above ground pool recall notice emphasizes that the compression strap, or reinforcing belt, that wraps around the pool’s vertical support poles can enable children to climb into the pool even if the ladder is removed, increasing the risk of drowning.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has highlighted the importance of pool safety and offers educational materials on its website, PoolSafely.gov, to help prevent accidents.
To address the issue, Starmatrix Group is offering a free repair kit for Blue Bay and Sunneday pools. In the meantime, they advise pool owners to ensure that children cannot access the pool unattended or to drain the pool until the repair is completed.
Consumers can contact Starmatrix toll-free at (888) 254-2714, email [email protected] or visit its website for more information on obtaining the repair kit.
Starmatrix Group reports that no injuries or incidents have been linked to the recalled pools so far. The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions monitors such recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.
In July, Bestway, Intex and Polygroup announced a recall for more than 5 million above ground pools due to the same safety concerns, while Blue Wave and SereneLife Home recalled more than 13,000 above ground pools in December.
