Top Class Action viewers are starting to receive checks in the mail from the UFC Mayweather-McGregor pay-per-view class action settlement worth as much as $99.99.

The UFC Mayweather-McGregor pay-per-view class action was filed after technical difficulties disrupted viewers’ ability to watch the historic match.

To watch the fight between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor, dubbed “The Money Fight,” viewers allegedly had to pay $100 to Showtime’s pay-per-view program. These viewers ended up disappointed and put out when technical difficulties caused problems with the streaming service.

Due to the technical difficulties, viewers missed seconds to minutes of the historic fight. Some viewers, who missed more than five minutes, experienced streaming problems during the climax of the match: Mayweather’s “knockout” win in the 10th round.

Some fans and disgruntled viewers took to social media to complain about the technical problems. However, UFC and Showtime allegedly downplayed the technical difficulties experienced by their viewers, causing further outrage among their customers.

UFC President Dana White allegedly claimed that the match was the most lucrative pay-per-view event in history, with 6.7 million purchases. However, an executive for Showtime, Stephen Espinoza, snapped back at White saying that no records were broken by the pay-per-view event.

Following the match and the technical difficulties, fans were outraged and some filed a UFC Mayweather-McGregor pay-per-view class action seeking compensation for the interrupted streaming.

In April 2018, UFC agreed to settle the class action and compensate viewers based on their interrupted streaming time. Under the settlement, viewers of the fight were compensated with the following:

  • A full, $99.99 refund for viewers who missed more than five minutes of the fight.
  • A $50 refund for viewers who missed less than five minutes of the fight.
  • A $25 refund for viewers who missed only the preliminary bouts of the fight.
  • A $5 refund or three months of UFC Fight Pass access for viewers who purchased food or drinks for viewers who had streaming interrupted.

The settlement also paid $900,000 in attorneys’ fees and $1,500 service awards to each plaintiff.

The deadline to file a claim for the UFC Mayweather-McGregor Pay-Per-View Class Action Settlement was Aug. 20, 2018.
