Woolsey Fire Damage Tally Increases

The Woolsey Fire in southern California has finally been contained. It’s now on the record as one of the largest wildfires in Los Angeles County history, based on records going back over a century.

So far, Woolsey fire damage extends over 98,000 acres of land. Tragically, there have been a few fatalities because of the fire. Many areas affected by the fire were evacuated, but some areas have been repopulated.

By the time firefighters contained the fire last week, at least 1,600 homes and other buildings had been destroyed. The cause of this massive fire is still under investigation.

Other Fire Damage

Sadly, the Woolsey Fire isn’t the only fire actively burning in California right now. California is experiencing rampant wildfires this year, and they are causing damage to many people’s property.

Last year, other fires ravaged California. One such fire was the Thomas Fire, which was even larger than Woolsey Fire. The Thomas Fire lasted for over a month and burned almost 300,000 acres, and destroyed over 1,000 structures.

In the Thomas Fire, homes, structures, landscapes, trees, and vegetation were decimated.

Making an Insurance Claim Over Fire Damage

Though natural disasters may make people feel hopeless, persons who experienced property damage in a California wildfire, you could receive compensation for your damages. Experienced property damage lawyers can help advocate for you to make sure you are fairly compensated as you file a damage claim with your insurance provider.

Property damage lawyers can help you get compensation for California wildfires like:

  • Camp Fire
  • Hill Fire
  • Thomas Fire
  • Woolsey Fire
  • Others

Typically, the full value of homes and buildings are covered by property insurance policies. However, landscapes and trees are not typically fully covered by such policies. In fact, only five percent of insurance policies are allotted for tree damage.

Some people who are facing Woolsey fire damage and other fire damage may not know that their trees and landscapes may not be covered by their insurance policy. In some cases, old mature trees can provide enormous value, and can be very useful to a property, so their loss will be acutely felt by property owners.
