Growing Nexium MDL alleges Serious PPI Kidney DamageA new claim has been added to the Nexium and chronic kidney disease MDL, which is the consolidated litigation for all of the claims against the manufacturers of Nexium for the severe side effects patients have experienced.

The latest plaintiff in the Nexium and chronic kidney disease lawsuit is Orlinda J. She alleges that as a direct result of using the PPI product known as Nexium, she suffered mental anguish, emotional distress, personal and economic injuries and pain and suffering. She alleges that she sustained injuries herself as well as economic losses and aims to hold AstraZeneca, the manufacturers of Nexium, responsible.

Numerous patients have come forward to allege that they have developed serious problems as a result of taking Nexium. The connection between Nexium and chronic kidney disease has become more prominent in recent years as more plaintiffs have joined the consolidated MDL.

Many of these plaintiffs say they have developed kidney disease after using these products in a regular and recommended manner. The plaintiff in the latest Nexium and chronic kidney disease lawsuit allegedly used Nexium between 2014 and 2016 and was later diagnosed with chronic kidney disease.

Orlinda brings the latest claim in the Nexium and chronic kidney disease lawsuit on numerous counts against the manufacturer, including negligent misrepresentation, breach of express and implied warranty, failure to warn, design defects, negligent fraudulent concealment, and violation of the consumer protection laws of Delaware, Texas and New Jersey.

The various Nexium and chronic kidney disease lawsuits brought together under this multidistrict litigation all allege that the PPI products are dangerous to human health, defective in design, and unsuitable to be marketed, and advertised and sold in the United States without a proper warning.

These PPI products are recommended to suppress the production of acid and to minimize the risk of gastric ulcers. Furthermore, these medications are often given to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease. But some users say that the warning about Nexium and chronic kidney disease doesn’t exist, exposing them to medical problems that could have been avoided.

Many plaintiffs have begun to experience a variety of different side effects, not the least of which is the connection between Nexium and chronic kidney disease. Other kidney side effects experienced by patients in these lawsuits include acute interstitial nephritis, kidney injury and end-stage renal disease.

The Nexium and chronic kidney disease lawsuits brought against the manufacturer allege that the manufacturer knew or should have known about the severe risks of kidney injuries, including the link between Nexium and chronic kidney disease and in failing to warn potential users of the drug, put those users at risk for significant side effects and problems.

These lawsuits consolidated in the MDL seek to hold the manufacturer accountable for the injuries sustained by the patients as a result of the failure to warn about the possibility that those patients could have developed chronic kidney disease and other symptoms.

The Nexium and Chronic Kidney Disease Lawsuit is Case No. 2:18-cv-15124-CCC-MF, filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey.
