If you or a loved one fell victim to roadside bombs in Iraq, you could be eligible for compensation from the financial institutions that funded the perpetrators.

Several banks around the world are being held accountable for their role in financing Iran, in violation of U.S. and international law. Iran is a known state sponsor of terrorism that helped funnel cash to terrorists in Iraq and Afghanistan in exchange for the terrorists attacking U.S. and coalition military members and contractors. According to lawsuits, roadside bombs in Iraq were the fallout from this financial support.

Among the banks allegedly responsible for helping fund roadside bombs in Iraq from 2003 to 2011 are:

  • Barclays Plc.
  • BNP Paribas S.A.
  • Commerzbank A.G.
  • Credit Suisse AG and Credit Suisse Asset Management Limited
  • HSBC Holding Group Plc.
  • Standard Chartered Bank Plc.

These banks have paid billions of dollars to the United States to resolve allegations of money laundering and that they processed financial transactions that were banned for Iran and other such terror-sponsoring countries.

Iran was able to make IEDs (Improvised Explosive Devices), EFPs (Explosively Formed Penetrators), and IRAMS (Improvised Rocket Assisted Munitions) for terrorists to use on attacks against U.S. and coalition forces in Iraq.

Roadside Bombs in Iraq Caused Injuries, Deaths

Any U.S. military member, veteran or civilian contractor who was injured by a roadside bomb in Iraq between 2003 and 2011 could be eligible for compensation. If a loved one was killed in such a horrible incident, the families and dependents could be eligible for compensation.

As a citizen of the United States, you have a right to file a lawsuit due to injuries or death caused by any act of international terrorism. The U.S. Anti-Terrorism Act deems it a criminal offense for anyone to help fund terrorist groups or to help with any mechanisms used in a terrorist attack.

The law specifically says, “Any national of the United States injured in his or her person, property, or business by reason of an act of international terrorism, or his or her estate, survivors, or heirs, may sue therefor in any appropriate district court of the United States and shall recover threefold the damages he or she sustains and the cost of the suit, including attorney’s fees.” (18 U.S. Code § 2333)

Even though U.S. Congress placed strict sanctions on Iran to stop the rogue country from sponsoring terrorism in Iraq, Iran was able to lure certain financial institutions into funding terrorism in exchange for promises of huge profits.

These sanctions were supposed to prevent Iran from accumulating the funds needed to create and deploy weapons. According to a report published by British newspaper The Telegraph in 2006, Iran had factories that made explosive devices that were later used as roadside bombs in Iraq.

If you or a loved one was injured or killed by roadside bombs in Iraq, you could be eligible for financial compensation from the financial institutions that funded such attacks. By exercising your right to file a lawsuit against the conspirators, you will hold them accountable for their illegal and unconscionable violations of the law.
