TransPerfect employees, both current and former, may be entitled to identity theft protection and reimbursement under a new settlement agreement between the company and plaintiffs in a class action lawsuit over an alleged data breach.

The identity theft protection coverage is valued at $3.5 million, while the reimbursement coverage offers an estimated $19.5 million to Class Members.

The TransPerfect data breach class action settlement stems from allegations that employee data was exposed during a data breach in January 2017. Plaintiffs accused TransPerfect of failing to protect current and former employees’ personal information.

The TransPerfect class action lawsuit plaintiffs alleged that payroll information and W-2 data was exposed in the data breach.

TransPerfect has not admitted to any wrongdoing under the terms of the TransPerfect data breach class action settlement, but has agreed to provide both reimbursement and identity theft protection services through Experian for three years to Class Members.

Class Members who opt for identity theft protection through the TransPerfect data breach class action settlement will be able to sign up for Experian’s Credit Plus 3-Bureau plan. The plan provides three-bureau credit monitoring alerts, dark web notifications, daily credit reports, support services in the event of fraud, and $1 million identity theft insurance.

The TransPerfect data breach class action settlement also provides reimbursement to Class Members of up to $4,000 for out-of-pocket costs related to the data breach.

Class Members have until Sept. 17, 2018 to object to or exclude themselves from the TransPerfect data breach class action settlement.

Who’s Eligible

Class Members include “All current and former TransPerfect employees in the United States whose Form W-2 data and/or payroll information was compromised as a result of the Data Breach.”

Potential Award

Experian’s Credit Plus 3-Bureau Plan and up to $4,000 reimbursement.

Proof of Purchase

Documentation of the costs related to the data breach.
