Polaris firePolaris fire and burn risks has prompted the off-road vehicle maker to recall its ACE 325 ROVs—adding another 6,300 vehicles to its already long recall list.

The Polaris fire recall was prompted after it was learned that the exhaust header pipe of the ACE 325 can crack, leading to fire and burn hazards. The defect was discovered after Polaris received reports from six ACE 325 owners that their vehicles suffered from cracked exhaust pipes. Two of those owners said that the cracked pipes caused the seats of their vehicles to melt. No injuries have been reported.

According to the Polaris fire recall, the vehicles affected are model years 2014 through 2016 and were sold by Polaris dealers across the country from Dec. 2014 through July 2017. The ACE 325 ROVs retailed for about $7,500.

Consumers are advised by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) to stop using the vehicles immediately. If you own a Polaris ACE 325, contact the company to have the vehicle repaired at no cost to you.

Massive Numbers of Polaris Fire Recalls in 2017

This makes about a dozen Polaris ROVs and snowmobiles that have been recalled this year alone, and many of the recalls were the result of potential fire and burn hazards.

The 2016 and 2017 RZR 900, 1000, Turbo, and GENERAL 1000 were a part of a Polaris fire recall in March. This summer, the Sportsman 570 recall affected approximately 25,000 off-road vehicles in yet another Polaris fire recall along with the RZR 170 ROV from model years 2015, 2016, and 2017—totalling 16,800 vehicles.

The Minnesota-based company has recalled more than 400,000 vehicles in the last two and a half years.

The investment website Motley Fool concluded that when considering the fact that “these problems extend across virtually all of its power-sports vehicle lines . . . [it] suggests a breakdown in the manufacturing process somewhere.”

Polaris says it has been making improvements on all fronts, including product design and manufacturing as well as its reaction to safety and quality issues.

“Safety has been a guiding principle at Polaris for the more than 60 years that we have been in business,” asserted a Polaris spokesperson in a statement. “We have made significant investments in people, processes, and technology to support prevention, identification, and remediation of safety and quality issues.”

But all the Polaris fire defects have resulted in several lawsuits filed by Polaris owners who have been injured because of the fire defects in their off-road vehicles.

If you or a loved one has been injured in a vehicle affected by one of the Polaris recalls, you do not have to take on the company alone.
