According to the news report, the integration partner did not notify 700Credit of the situation at that time and that the breach revealed a vulnerability in the company’s validation process.
This vulnerability, as reported by CBT News, led to hackers launching a sustained velocity attack on Oct. 25 that went on for two weeks. Despite shutting down the exposed API, the attackers were ultimately able to obtain around 20% of consumer data between May and October 2025.
The information compromised during the data breach varies by individual but includes names, birth dates, addresses, and Social Security numbers, according to a notice provided to the Maine Attorney General’s Office.
