GNC Supplements labelsA potential class action lawsuit has been filed on behalf of more than 200,000 Americans who have purchased Irwin Naturals and Ultimate Nutraceuticals brand Dual-Action Cleanse, Total Body Purifier, and/or Colon Cleanse Formula. The class action lawsuit alleges these colon-cleansing products are “grossly overpriced, misrepresented, ineffective and sometimes harmful.” It also alleges the companies’ founder engages in a “scheme” to charge customers for unordered merchandise without authorization.

According to the class action lawsuit documents, the founder of Irwin Naturals and Ultimate Nutraceuticals “has made many millions of dollars by defrauding and damaging customers” by selling “harmful merchandise at incredible prices” and then sending “more unordered and unwanted merchandise” in order to “charge customers’ credit or debit cards without authorization.” It also claims James Chappell, who acts as the consultant and spokesman for the products, misleads consumers by advertising himself as a board certified chiropractor and Naturopathic Physician, despite having his chiropractic license cancelled in 1998 and having no online record of him with the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians.

If the class action lawsuit is approved, class members will include anyone who purchased Dual-Action Cleanse, Total Body Purifier or Colon Cleanse Formula, and/or had their debit or credit cards charged without authorization by the defendants for merchandise they didn’t purchase.
