Moldy Medical Marijuana Recalled
Cannabis company Agro-Greens Natural Products Ltd. recalled a dried cannabis product over concerns about a mold contamination that could trigger allergic reactions in consumers. The product at issue is Agro-Greens North 40 Black Cherry Punch dried cannabis, lot 20-P88.
The moldy buds come from a lot sold to authorized retailers in Saskatchewan, as well as medical marijuana clients, according to the Health Canada recall notice. The agency warns that consumers who ingest the product could experience sneezing, coughing or wheezing, although serious harm is not likely.
The company reports that it sold 752 units of the recalled consumer products between Dec. 4 and Dec. 23 of 2020.
โAll environmental conditions were on point throughout the drying and curing,โ the company reportedly tweeted of the recalled weed. โIt looks like a very isolated incident.โ
Health Canada warns that consumers who purchased the moldy marijuana should stop using it and contact Agro-Greens to return the product. The company can be contacted via email at recall@agrogreens.ca or phone at 1 (844) 922-2244.
Though mold is not a common problem in the marijuana industry, it is not the first incident, according to Marijuana Business Daily.
Recall Issued Over Melting Vape Pens
Several types of disposable vape pens were also subjected to a recent recall. The products can overheat, potentially melting the plastic shells of the pens, according to Health Canada.
The three consumer products affected by the issue are the HEXO Durban All-in-One Disposable Vape Pen, the HEXO Blue Dream All-in-One Disposable Vape Pen, and the HEXO Trainwreck Allโin-One Disposable Vape Pen. Only pens with certain identification numbers are subject to the recall.
โThe recalled products contain a mechanical defect whereby the auto turn-off mechanism can fail. This results in continuous battery engagement, generating excessive heat in the device which in turn can cause the plastic shell of the pen to melt,โ states Health Canadaโs recall notice.
Approximately 100,132 of the products were sold between May of 2020 and January of 2021.
Consumers should stop using the product immediately and return them to the place of purchase for a full refund, warns Health Canada which also notes that medical marijuana users will be contacted by the distributor HEXO Operations, Inc. directly.
Bubble Bath Contaminated With Microorganism Recalled
Everyday Gentle Bubble Bath in Sweet Orange Vanilla, sold by The Honest Company, may be contaminated with a microorganism that could make some consumers sick, states a third recall notice issued by Health Canada.
โPluralibacter gergoviae rarely causes serious infections in healthy individuals,โ says the notice. โIndividuals with weakened immune systems, who suffer from a serious pre-existing condition, who have been treated surgically, or belong to another sensitive group of persons are at an increased risk of infection if they use the contaminated product.โ
355 ml varieties of the product have been recalled, including lot numbers TH20234201 and TH20237201. More than 1,000 units of the recalled bubble bath were sold between October 2020 and January of 2021.
Consumers are instructed to stop using the product and contact The Honest Company for a refund as well as instructions on how to get rid of the contaminated bubble bath.
