EA Football Video Game Settlement: More Money, New Deadline Offered
By Mike Holter
UPDATE 1: A federal judge granted final approval to the EA Football Video Game Class Action Lawsuit Settlement.
UPDATE 2: Payments went out to Class Members in late October 2013. Congratulations to our Top Class Actions readers who submitted a valid claim and got PAID!
Good news for Madden and other EA football gamers who submitted claims for the Pecover v. Electronic Arts class action settlement: a federal judge has modified the distribution plan to allow Class Members to claim almost three times more than was originally allowed. The Court also extended the claims filing deadline to May 15, 2013.
Notices of the revised EA video game settlement went out on Monday, explaining that the Court modified the distribution plan to ensure that Settlement Class Members received as much money as possible from the class action settlement fund. Apparently the amount of money being returned to Class Members was less than expected because fewer than anticipated claims were filed for the original deadline of March 5, 2013.
Now, instead of receiving $6.79 per new game purchased, Class Members who purchased Madden NFL, NCAA Football, or Arena Football video games for the Xbox, PlayStation 2, PC, or GameCube platforms (“Sixth Generation Purchasers”) can receive $20.37 per new game purchased, up to a total of 8 units ($162.96).
Consumers who purchased Madden NFL, NCAA Football, or Arena Football video games for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, or Wii platforms (“Seventh Generation Purchasers”) will now receive $5.85 per new game purchased, up to a total of 8 units ($46.80) instead of the original $1.95 offered.
These games must have a release date of January 1, 2005 to June 21, 2012.
If you already filed a claim for the EA football video game class action settlement, you do not need to take further action. You will automatically receive the increased settlement award if your claim was valid and approved.
If you have not already filed a claim, you must do so by the new deadline of May 15, 2013.
Claim Forms and more information on your rights in the EA Football Video Game Class Action Lawsuit Settlement can be found at www.EASportsLitigation.com. Further details on the case and how to submit a valid Claim Form can be found in our Open Class Action Lawsuits section.
The case is Geoffrey Pecover v. Electronic Arts, Case No. 8-cv-02820 CW, U.S. District Court, Northern District of California, Oakland.

Did anyone get checks regarding this yet? Where’s mine? I thought they were already sent out.
ANY ONE KNOWS WHEN CHECKS WILL BE GOING OUT. IF SO CAN YOU PLEASE POSTED. THANKS
I HAD purchased (new) every madden game during that timeframe (I buy Madden every year) and 3 NCAA games. How do they prove which games we had? Obviously no one has kept every single receipt. My guess is they can tell who purchased the games new by using the enclosed code for online play. But that wasn’t available for every game each year. Odd. I’ll be interested to see how much I get.
I have all the games what should I do now?
