The Bluestem settlement resolves allegations that the company d/b/a Fingerhut, Gettington, and PayCheck Direct used an automatic dialer to call cell phones in violation of the TCPA.
According to the class action lawsuit, these phone calls were placed in attempt to collect debts allegedly owed on Fingerhut, Gettington, or PayCheck Direct credit accounts.
Class Members included all U.S. residents who received a non-emergency telephone call from Bluestem or on behalf of Bluestem to a cell phone through the use of an automatic telephone dialing system or an artificial or prerecorded voice in connection with an attempt to collect on a credit account debt from Sept. 11, 2009 through Nov. 15, 2014.
Bluestem denied the allegations but agreed to pay $4.4 million to settle the class action.
The deadline to file a claim for the Bluestem class action settlement passed on May 16, 2016.
