WEN cleansing conditioner

Over 200 people have filed WEN Cleansing Conditioner lawsuits against the manufacturer and developer of the popular hair conditioner alleging that the hair product is defective and can cause hair to fall out and severely damage the scalp.

What is WEN Cleansing Conditioner?

WEN Cleansing Conditioner is an extremely popular hair product that is designed, manufactured, and sold by Chaz Dean a hair stylist to Hollywood’s actors and actresses.  The product gained popularity after being constantly marketed on infomercials, featuring celebrity testimonials from stars such as Alyssa Milano, Angie Harmon, and Brooke Shields.

According to the testimonials, WEN Cleansing Conditioner works as a shampoo, conditioner, deep conditioner, and a detangler.  In its advertising, WEN products alleges that while regular shampoos can damage hair, WEN Cleansing Conditioner improves the health of hair after one use.  One infomercial claims that the product is gentle enough for every day use and that the more product you use, the better the results.

Since WEN Cleansing Conditioner first hit the market it has become extremely successful.  The product brought in over $100 million in its second year on the market. The product is sold on infomercials, Amazon, and in Sephora stores.

WEN Hair Loss Lawsuits

Plaintiffs bringing WEN hair loss lawsuits claim that rather than improving their hair, the conditioning product caused serious damage.  The WEN hair loss lawsuits go on to allege that the manufacturer knew about the complaints but continued to sell the product and refused to take any corrective action.

One of these lawsuits was brought by WEN consumer Caryn C. as a class action lawsuit.  Caryn says she used the product and claims she experienced baldness, rashes, scalp irritation, breakage, and hair discoloration. She seeks to represent a class of consumers who experienced hair damage as a result of using WEN hair products.

In a statement made to NBC News, the manufacturers and marketers asserted that no scientific evidence exists to suggest the hair products caused consumers to experience hair loss.

Deciding to bring a WEN hair loss lawsuit is a big decision that should be made on a case by case basis with the advice of a legal professional.  A consumer protection attorney can help potential plaintiffs weigh the facts and circumstances of their individual case.

Successful plaintiffs may receive compensation for the pain and suffering they endured. Consumer protection lawsuits also help to hold companies accountable for their actions.  They serve as a reminder that companies owe consumers a specific duty of care.

A plaintiff can generally choose to bring a lawsuit individually or as a member in a class action lawsuit.  Certain types of lawsuits often lend themselves more towards one type of lawsuit over the other. Each type of lawsuit has different benefits.  Lawsuits brought individually give the plaintiff more control over the litigation while class action lawsuits help to spread legal costs among all the class members.

The WEN Hair Loss Class Action Lawsuit is Caryn Collazo, et al. v. WEN by Chaz Dean Inc., et al., Case No. 2:15-cv-01974-ODW-AGR, in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
