More than 200 consumers who have allegedly suffered hair damage or hair loss after using Wen hair products have taken legal action against WEN by Chaz Dean Inc. and marketing company Gunthy-Renker LLC. According to court documents that were recently filed, the parties have agreed to pursue mediation in an attempt to resolve the litigation.
There are currently two WEN hair product class action lawsuits that are pending in federal court. The first (Friedman v. Gunthy-Renker LLC) was filed in 2014 by plaintiff Amy Friedman of Florida. Friedman alleges that she began losing “substantial and abnormal amounts of hair” within two weeks of using the WEN Cleansing Conditioner.
Although Friedman stopped using the WEN hair product, she lost “one quarter to one third of the hair on her head,” according to the class action lawsuit.
Friedman says she purchased the WEN Cleansing Conditioner Sweet Almond Mint basic kit for $29.95 after seeing an advertisement for the product.
A second WEN class action lawsuit was initially filed in March 2015. This class action lawsuit, titled Caryn Collazo v. WEN By Chaz Dean Inc., currently has 200 consumers listed as plaintiffs. The plaintiffs allege they experienced hair loss, breakage, and scalp irritation after using WEN products.
The products at issue in the Callazo class action lawsuit include WEN Cleansing Conditioner hair care products of several varieties, including but not limited to: Coconut Mango, Cranberry, Fig, Lavender, Pomegranate, Sweet Almond Mint, and Tea Tree.
According to the WEN hair product class action lawsuits, advertisements for WEN hair care products indicate the product will strengthen users’ hair and leave it looking clean and healthy. The plaintiffs allege these advertisements are misleading and deceive consumers into believing they will experience improvements in the manageability and appearance of their hair.
Gunthy-Renker and WEN deny the allegations set forth in the hair product class action lawsuits and deny making false or misleading statements about the WEN hair products.
Friedman is represented by Neville L. Johnson, Douglas L. Johnson and Jordanna G. Thigpen of Johnson & Johnson LLP; William Anderson, Charles J. LaDuca, and Michael J. Flannery of Cuneo Gilbert & LaDuca LLP; and Brian W. Warwick and Janet R. Varnell of Varnell and Warwick PA.
Collazo is represented by Amy E. Davis of Christiansen Davis LLC and David E. Rosen of Murphy Rosen LLP.
The WEN Cleansing Conditioner Class Action Lawsuits are Amy Friedman, et al. v. Guthy-Renker LLC and WEN By Chaz Dean Inc., Case No. 2:14-cv-06009, in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, Western Division, and Caryn Collazo, et al. v. WEN by Chaz Dean Inc., et al., Case No. 2:15-cv-01974-ODW-AGR, in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.

I was going to buy Wen products as soon as I could afford to. Perhaps I am lucky that I could not afford it because I surely do not want to be bald or else I would use hair remover. It is so hard to believe that I am wondering if someone set this company up out of anger and revenge.
I can take parts from all of the above comments and put them in to this email, as experience the same results from using Wen. I thought that I was going crazy, I thought I was using a great product and suddenly my hair got thin, it just changed drastically, thick clumps of my hair would coming out every time I washed it and now I have a huge patch in the middle of my head as big as my fist that is about to go bald.
I cannot believe this! I have the very same problem. I have used WEN for years. My hair is so thin right now I am contemplating rogaine (?) for women! I, too, ordered mine through QVC. My doctor and dermatologist have no medical reason this is happening to me. My hair is ruined. I have also been so depressed. My husband saw this on the news and alerted me to it! I will stop using this product IMMEDIATELY!!! I have a whole cupboard full of WEN products as I take advantage of sales because it is so expensive. So ANGRY!!
I was using Wen for about 2 years. My hair was falling off and I was literally BALD. I thought it was some health issue that I had. I went to see a dermatologist. She had me go to get a blood test. The result came back all normal. I never thought that it was Wen product. I stopped using Wen and my dermatologist suggested to use Rogaine for men. I’m a woman but she said use Rogaine foam for men. My hair stopped falling off after I switched my shampoo and stopped using Wen. My hair eventually started growing back after about 6 months.
I used Wen Pomegranate and now have thinning in the front of my head. While using it I lost a lot of hair like others have described but didn’t even think it could be the shampoo. After experiencing dryness and itching I stopped using it.
I also have used Wen for years. Always had good results until the past year when my scalp started to itch and burn with noticeable hair thinning. Never guessed it could have been the Wen because I’ve used it for years. Now that I’ve stopped using it, my hair is very damaged, noticed when I switched shampoos and wasn’t using the Wen anymore. The heaviness of the conditioner was hiding the damage being done to my hair. I am very disappointed in this product that was falsely stated to be healthy for your hair.
I ordered it online two years ago. After the first order and using it I noticed hair loss, but attributed it to the new product. the second one was delivered to my house. I started noticing that my hair was falling out even more. I stopped using it. I tried to contact them and was told that a package was coming once a month and my bank account would be debited. When the third delivery came, I called and returned the package. I told them that my hair was falling out and they could keep their product.
Had the same problem. Ordered mine through QVC. I have been to my doctor for the loss of hair and my hair breaking off. She has no medical reason for this. My hair is ruined. I have been so depressed. Now I see this today in the news..I had no idea it was WEN. This is awful
I started using WEN years ago and never connected WEN to my hair loss. I went from having a full head of hair to now using hair makeup to cover my thinning hair. I have always had a full head of hair but it was very fine. I just went on-line at QVC to see when I actually started using WEN and found all my orders from January 2009 thru February 2014 do not show up, but orders back to 2007 are on my order page. When I did live chat I told them I was looking for my WEN orders and they had to sort them in product order for them to show up. PLEASE CHECK YOUR QVC ACCOUNTS AND SEE IF YOUR ORDER HISTORY HAS DISAPPEARED, Maybe QVC should be added to this lawsuit if they are trying hide their customers who ordered WEN though them.
I have been using WEN since Sept. 2015 and I have balding spots and thinning hair ..I ise to have to have my hair thinned out when I got a hair cut but now it’s so thin it’s like I have baby fine hair…that has never been my problem…what can I do about this?
