Honda class action lawsuitA federal class action lawsuit has been filed against Honda claiming its 2003-2007 Accords and Civics have defective paint that delaminates, causing the vehicles to appear faded or to have peeling paint.

The Honda Civic/Accord paint class action lawsuit was filed by two Plaintiffs, including a New York resident who alleges portions of her 2003 Honda Accord began exhibiting “areas and splotches of deterioration and eventually grey or white areas where the vehicle’s original paint had delaminated. Over time, the paint delamination has increased in severity and extent, covering several of the vehicle’s body panels.” When the Plaintiff brought her car to a Honda dealership to repair the paint delamination, Honda denied her request because it was beyond the 3 year/36,000 mile warranty.

“In modern vehicles, automobile paint is routinely expected to last the lifetime of the vehicle, such that, absent an accident, a vehicles owner reasonably would not expect to have to spend thousands of dollars to have his or her vehicles stripped and repainted during ownership of the car,” the class action lawsuit says. “Honda, however, has manufactured vehicles with a defective paint or paint application, that leaves vehicle owners with a vehicle of unacceptable appearance. In addition, the delamination of the paint from the vehicle’s body panels, exposing the vehicle to enhanced erosion.”

The Honda paint class action lawsuit is brought on behalf of all California and New York owners of a model year 2003-2007 Honda vehicles. It is seeking actual damages and losses sustained by Class Members and other relief for breach of express warranty, breach of implied warranty of merchantability, and violation of California’s unfair competition law.

I own a 2014 Honda Pilot Touring and the blue paint is down to the metal on the hood and the top of the roof. Mine is also garage kept and looks totally faded out. Estimates have been around 1500.00 for just the roof and the hood, which will not match the car when done because of the total paint fade on the vehicle.

I own a 2014 Honda Odyssey Van with the pearl white paint. I began having issues with the paint around 2022. When I took it to the dealership of purchase, I was informed that there had been a paint recall however since it was after 7 years of purchase, I didn’t qualify for help covering repairs. We had it repaired ourselves with over 1000.00 of out of pocket expenses to get it done. Now it is peeling in multiple locations and has gone down to the metal. Estimate for this repair is over 3000.00. I don’t have it to keep having something repaired that was defective from the start. Please help me.

2014 Honda Accord Coupe V6 bought new. Car currently has only 46,000 miles garage kept. The paint is peeling around the rear window. Honda and 2 different Honda dealers said not covered.

2014 Honda Accord coupe V6 (bought new) white pearl peeling with 46,000 miles garaged kept and well maintained. Honda and 2 different dealers refused to do anything.

My 2017 Honda Civic EX-T Orchid White Pearl paint code 788P Tri-Coat is peeling on the right quarter panel right in the gap where the back glass is urethaned in.
I contacted the dealer I purchased the vehicle BRAND NEW from, they told me to call American Honda. Called American Honda twice. Spoke to a Jessica is customer service, Christina a supervisor who flat said NOPE NOT COVERING IT then told me to contact the manufacturer location. Called Indiana manufacturer, they told me to call the dealer I purchased my car from… Called the dealer again, Andy Schmitt said he can’t do anything for me and to call
American Honda again… Called American Honda again and spoke to a Celest in customer service. They gave a bold NO again stating my VIN did not show up under the 1 pint of bad paint. Funny how the paint is peeling FLAKING off in a gap that only a pinky finger will barely fit in the EXACT areas as the rest including the Argent Blue Civic’s and ABSOLUTELY NO DAMAGE to my car but yet my VIN was not listed for that 1 bad pint of paint… I worked in a shop for many years. I work for an insurance company now… I know firsthand there is always more than 1 bad batch of paint and paint doesn’t just flake off for no reason without there being damage or user error.
I will be taking this as far as I need to because it is BS that Honda continues refusing to make it right and appears I am one of MANY with this problem…
I have searched and searched on how to add my case to the lawsuits but cannot find anything.
I guess my next step will be to contact a class action lawyer?
Then contact the NHTSA, Federal Trade Commission, State Consumer Protection Agency and the State Attorney Generals Office.
    Do better Honda, do better…..

I will join you. 2017 Honda CRV paint is peeling. went to a shop and they said it is defective paint and that Honda should fix it.. Of course Honda gave me the same 3 year bs. I asked for their mailing address so I could send a demand letter (requirement for small claims) and hope they are cooperative. I would love to start a class action lawsuit!
