Adult bed rails recalled overview:

Medline Industries recalled 1.5 million of its adult portable bed rails after they led to a pair of deaths.
The recall also includes 5,522 bed rails in Canada.
The bed rails can lead to a risk of entrapment and asphyxia because users can become entrapped within the rail or between the rail and mattress.
In July 2019, a 76-year-old woman at a senior nursing facility in Iowa died, and, in November 2023, an 87-year-old woman at a residential care facility in South Carolina died following entrapment in the bed rails.
The recalled adult bed rails include the single model MDS6800BA and three-pack model MDS6800BAH. “Medline” and the model number are printed on a label located on the support frame of the bed rail near the vertical portion of the bed rail.
Stop using bed rails, contact Medline for refund
Medline Industries is not facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled bed rails and contact Medline for a refund. They can reach the company at 866-359-1704 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT Monday through Friday, by email at recalls@medline.com or online.
In March 2023, BeyondMedShop recalled more than 100,000 of its Vaunn Medical Adult Bed Rails for similar entrapment and asphyxia hazards.
