A $1.07 million Mastercard settlement resolves claims that the company and its affiliates listed unlawful job postings in Washington state.

The settlement benefits individuals who applied for a Mastercard job opening in Washington between Jan. 1, 2023, and July 19, 2024, where the job posting did not disclose the wage scale or salary range or a general description of benefits for the position.

Plaintiffs in the case argue Mastercard violated Washington law by not disclosing the wage scales, salary ranges or a general description of benefits in job postings. Washington reportedly has strict laws that require specific information to be included in job listings.

Mastercard is a credit card and payment processing company.

Mastercard hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay up to $1.074 million to resolve the job listing class action lawsuit.

Under the terms of the settlement, class members can receive an equal share of the net settlement fund. Payments will vary depending on the number of claims filed and other factors.

Payment estimates are not available on the website but may have been included with mailed settlement notices.

Settlement payments are considered non-wage damages and interest for tax purposes and may be subject to a 1099 tax form. Class members may wish to consult with a tax professional regarding the tax consequences of accepting a Mastercard job listing settlement payment.

The deadline for exclusion and objection is Nov. 4, 2024.

The final approval hearing for the settlement is scheduled for Nov. 22, 2024.

To receive Mastercard settlement payments, class members must submit a valid claim form by Nov. 4, 2024.

  1. Paul Downey says:

I have applied to many jobs at Mastercard but how do you get a “unique claim ID” in order to file a claim and see if eligible? Would that have been mailed to me?
