Focus Plumbing discrimination, harassment $500K EEOC settlement

Focus Plumbing, a plumbing service based in Las Vegas, agreed to pay $500,000 as part of a settlement to resolve claims from the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) that it discriminated against, harassed and retaliated against female workers.

The settlement benefits female workers who were subjected to gender harassment while working at Focus Plumbing since October 2017.

The EEOC took legal action against the plumbing service in 2017, claiming the company subjected female workers to a hostile work environment that included unwanted sexual advances, sexual harassment and other wrongdoing. Women were allegedly threatened if they refused these sexual advances, while those who acquiesced to the sexual harassment were offered better assignments and hours.

Focus Plumbing is a plumbing company that offers a variety of services through a licensed team of technicians. 

The plumbing service hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay $500,000 to resolve these allegations.

Under the terms of the settlement, class members can receive a cash payment. Payments will vary depending on the EEOC’s determination of owed damages. 

No payment estimates are available at this time.

There is no exclusion or objection deadline in this EEOC settlement.

The Focus Plumbing EEOC settlement has already been granted final approval.

To receive settlement benefits, affected workers must submit a claim questionnaire by Oct. 1, 2024.
